General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate technical work performing first level help desk, troubleshooting, repair and support; providing assistance to the teaching staff, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Director of Technology and Security Services.

Essential Functions
- Supports and repairs district devices, including Windows computers, Chromebooks, and handheld devices.
- Performs first level help desk for district audio and video equipment, printers and computer peripheral devices.
- Provides technical assistance and support for district technology driven testing systems.
- Installs or updates hardware and software as required or requested by the Director.
- Provides Level 1 support for district VoIP phone system.
- Assists building staff in the use of the instructional technology necessary to utilize the system, including both hardware and software related to the curriculum.
- Supports staff and students in the use of hardware, computers, printers, digital cameras, video cameras and other related technology equipment.
- Installs and configures new computers and handheld devices to meet the needs of the specific user.
- Works with vendors, internet or peers to find support and answers to specific questions or procedures to address problems, conflicts or operational problems related to the network.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of personal computer systems, software, hardware and networks; thorough knowledge of the principles and practices in the preparation of computer programs; thorough knowledge of the operation, care, capabilities, installations and adjustments of a wide variety of computer equipment; ability to reason and think logically; ability to understand and follow written or oral procedures and instructions; skill in the operation of personal computer equipment; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, fellow employees and all levels of technology users.
Education and Experience
Associates/Technical degree with coursework in information technology, or related field and minimal experience working in the technology field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires standing, walking and speaking or hearing and occasionally requires climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a quiet location
Special Requirements
Experience working in a multi-cultural setting and with diverse groups of people preferred.
Alternatives to the qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable will also be considered.
Valid driver''s license in the State of Minnesota.
