Primary Role and Purpose: Assist the Principal in academic program administration and school-level operations. The APA is a leadership role responsible for orchestrating effective teams for specific purposes such as curriculum, instruction, assessment, student academic data, resources, professional development, coaching, observation, evaluation, intervention, and academic extracurricular programs. Skills: Working knowledge of charter operations Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills Ability to coordinate school?s academic operations Working knowledge of curriculum, assessment, college readiness, evaluation, and progress monitoring Proficiency in digital literacy, communication skills, data management and analysis, and educational technology Effective communication with students, staff, families, and community Demonstrates sensitivity to teachers? individual differences and cultural backgrounds A positive, professional demeanor that promotes a productive work environment for staff Respects confidentiality Experience: At least five years of teaching experience Responsibilities and Duties: Curriculum: A working knowledge of the curriculum resources used or needed for appropriate grade levels and departments Collaborates and communicates with building administration including APAs, APSCs, and Principal, when implementing school wide initiatives as needed Collaborates and communicates with regional Coaches, DTL, and CSADs when implementing professional development, curriculum, assessments, and other school wide initiatives as needed Develop procedures for teachers to implement curriculum based on the schools? needs and timetables Guide teachers on how to create their daily lesson plans based on grade level standards and data Assist in planning needed trainings for teachers on their curriculum Encourage the use of technology in the instructional process Instruction: Assist in planning, implementing, and assessing the progress of academic building initiatives Monitor instructional plans (syllabus, annual plans, weekly plans, lesson plans, etc.) Recommend teaching strategies and the use of different or new technologies Research teaching methods and techniques. Assist teaching staff in implementing research-based instruction and interventions Encourage planning of innovative education programs to assist teachers in implementing such efforts when appropriate. Encourage the use of technology in the instructional process. Resources: Collect and analyze the ?end-of-year self-evaluation forms.? Inspect instructional equipment to determine if repairs are needed, and authorize necessary repairs Assessment and Data Analysis: Assess and discuss the implementation of education standards with school staff and how to re-teach for mastery Supervise and coordinate standardized test preparation and evaluation Help teachers analyze the practice test data Meet with teachers after each practice assessment, go over their action plans, and support different instructional strategies to use in the classroom. Professional Development: Conduct or participate in workshops, committees, and conferences designed to promote students'' intellectual, social, and physical welfare. Plan, organize and conduct teacher training conferences or workshops Plan and conduct teacher training programs and conferences dealing with new classroom procedures, instructional materials and equipment, and teaching aids Demonstrate or explain assembly or use of equipment Explain expectations and use of SIS and any other educational instrument. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management Assist in scheduling student activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules. Document needs of schools academic in order to compile yearly Annual Report with school administrators and staff. Manage support services, including transportation, custodial, and cafeteria. Abide by all federal and state laws that apply to charter schools, and charter policy. Supervisory Responsibilities: Share supervisory duties for school professional staff with the school Principal. Oversee teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel, and others as assigned. Other Responsibilities: Attend parent-teacher conferences Participate in the Educational Audits conducted by Sponsor Arranging subs on a daily basis Work on Student Database (Entering and updating student and course schedules) Prepare for Award Assemblies Review and analyze reports, records, and directives, and confer with teachers to obtain data required for planning department activities, such as new commitments, the status of work in progress, and problems encountered. Create the school master schedule Assist in scheduling student activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules. Supervise RTT coordinator Attend Leadership Meetings Attend grade chair and department meetings Monitor SPED and ESL programs (schedules and implementation) Assist in the preparation of the school improvement plan with staff, parents, and community members. Help School Principal, design, manage, and implement information systems manage and track progress on school goals and academic excellence indicators. Assist the Principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new employees. Oversee student attendance records and assist the Administrative Assistant on truancy issues. Instruction:
