Job Title: MYP Coordinator
This position is for the 2026 - 2027 school year, starting after July 1 once position is filled.
Bargaining Unit: Individual Contract
FTE: 1.0
Salary Range: Individual contract, $94,000 - $120,000/year, depending on experience
Description: The MYP Coordinator and Instructional Coach is responsible for leading the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), while also serving as a key instructional leader and partner for teaching staff. This dual-role position ensures fidelity to the IB framework while supporting instructional excellence through job-embedded coaching, curriculum development, and professional learning.
Essential Functions:
The essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:
IB Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary liaison with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) regarding IB implementation and compliance.
- Lead onsite training and professional development aligned to IB frameworks, philosophies, and updates.
- Monitor and communicate current IB requirements, changes, and developments to administration, staff, and stakeholders.
- Ensure documentation is up-to-date and compliant for both the current IB and any connected initiatives.
- Organize out-of-district IB-related training, workshops, and site visits for staff professional learning.
- Collaborate with staff to revise and align curriculum and assessment practices to IB standards and principles.
- Provide leadership and coordination of the Personal Project, ensuring consistency and high standards across the program.
- Co-lead and facilitate the IB Leadership Team(s) to drive school-wide IB implementation and collaboration.
- Support development of program marketing, signage, and materials aligned with IB and global studies goals.
- Source and secure appropriate IB-related instructional resources and materials.
- Coordinate and prepare for IB authorization and evaluation visits, as well as hosting visits from other IB schools or districts.
- Collaborate with other IB Coordinators in the district to provide subject area leadership and shared programmatic responsibility.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a school-wide scope and sequence for IB implementation.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families to promote understanding and engagement with the IB.
- Support community engagement and partnerships that enhance and align with IB objectives.
- Oversee Gradebook practices to ensure alignment with IB assessment philosophy, including criterion-based grading, accurate reporting of student achievement, and consistent, equitable practices across courses.
- Coordinate the administration of district, state and programmatic assessments (e.g. MCA, MAP, ACT, IB), ensuring compliance with testing protocols, timelines, and security requirements.
- Manage testing logistics, including scheduling, training of staff, material distribution, and data collection.
- Perform additional duties as assigned related to the success of the IB.
Instructional Coaching Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers to support the design and delivery of effective, engaging instruction aligned with IB philosophy and research-based best practices.
- Provide job-embedded coaching through classroom observation, modeling of instructional strategies, co-teaching, and reflective feedback.
- Assist staff in using student data to inform instructional decisions and differentiate learning experiences to meet diverse learner needs.
- Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on curriculum alignment, data-driven instruction, and continuous instructional improvement.
- Develop and lead professional development sessions on high-impact teaching strategies, instructional technology integration, and formative assessment practices.
- Serve as a resource for integrating inquiry-based learning, global competencies, and interdisciplinary teaching in line with IB standards.
- Mentor new and developing teachers to support professional growth and ensure consistency in instructional quality.
- Promote a culture of reflection, collaboration, and innovation within the professional staff.
- Collaborate with school leadership to assess instructional needs, plan strategic support, and evaluate program impact.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of K-12 teaching experience in MYP and/or five years of teaching experience
- Minimum of 1-3 years teacher leadership experience (preferably in MYP)
- Valid Minnesota teaching license.
- Relevant administrative or coordinator certification preferred.
- Experience with IB MYP and instructional coaching in a K–12 educational setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of inquiry-based learning, standards-based grading, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead adult learners and facilitate meaningful collaboration.
