Position: A ssistant Principal of School Culture Grades 6-12 School: Minnesota Math and Science Academy, St. Paul, MN Minnesota Math and Science Academy is a K-12 public charter school located in St. Paul, Minnesota. MMSA is searching for an APSC who wants to be a part of something special and strives to make a difference in the lives of our students. This position commences with the 2026-27 school year. Skills: Working knowledge of charter operations Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills Ability to coordinate school?s behavioral-related operations. Working knowledge of Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems, Ability to impact school culture in a positive, progressive way Proficiency in digital literacy, communication skills, data management and analysis, and educational technology Ability to oversee & supervise Deans and other behavior staff to ensure a proactive, positive school culture Effective communication with students, staff, families, and community Demonstrates sensitivity to teachers? individual differences and cultural backgrounds while supporting teachers in developing proactive classroom management strategies A positive, professional demeanor that promotes a productive work environment and positive culture for staff Respects confidentiality Roles and Responsibilities: School Atmosphere Encourage a constructive, thoughtful climate for learning. Promote fairness of students and staff from all cultural backgrounds. Communicate with students and staff in an effective manner. School Improvement Assist in the organization of school improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members. Help School Principal, design, manage and implement information systems to manage and track progress on school?s goals and academic excellence indicators. Personnel Management Hold employee evaluation conferences based on records of performance evaluation. Assist the Principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new employees. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management Assist in scheduling student activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules. Organize safety drill practices and inspections. Oversee student attendance records and assist the Administrative Assistant on truancy issues. Document needs of schools academic in order to compile yearly Annual Report with school administrators and staff. Manage support services, including transportation, custodial and cafeteria. Abide by all federal and state laws that apply to charter schools and charter policy. Student Management Provide for supervision of students during non-instructional hours. Help students develop positive behavior through a student discipline management system. Provide for uniform enforcement of school rules and oversee appropriate and reasonable student discipline. Hold parent/teacher/student conferences in regard to student and school issues. Professional Enrich job skills through professional development. School and Community Responsibilities Convey the school?s mission to the public and encourage support in accomplishing the mission. Illustrate understanding of school and community needs and begin activities to meet those needs. Demonstrate use of productive and efficient skills to raise community and parent involvement. Qualifications: At least 5 years of teaching and/or educational experience in an administration or a disciplinary role.
