Reports to: Principal / Assistant Principal''s Department: Paraprofessional Works with: Administration, Teachers, students, parents Job Summary: The paraprofessional takes direction from teachers and administration to provide behavior support for the school day. Duties/Responsibilities: GENERAL ADMINISTRATION Supervise students who have been given in-school suspension or lunch detention. Collaborate with administration and take direction to implement behavior strategies for student intervention. PERSONNEL Works cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by providing positive behavior support in a school setting. Assists with the supervision of students during classes, project time, assemblies, field trips, meetings, lunchtime and before and after school as directed by licensed staff. STUDENTS Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce expectations at the direction of administration Continually supervises students in the space in which they are assigned to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment.. Assist in maintaining daily behavior documentation for students as directed by licensed staff. Establishes a supportive and positive relationship with the students. Other Duties as Assigned. Job Requirements: Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with school personnel, students, parents andmembers of the community. Maintains confidentiality and possesses unquestionable integrity. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Physical Job Requirements: Employee is continuously required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, talk, and hear; frequently sits, stoops, kneels and/or crouches, reach with hands and arms in the performance of the job. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally; and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
