Special Education Teacher 2026-27 Description Position: Special Education Teacher School: Compass Academy Location: Bloomington, MN Start Date: August 2026 About Compass Academy: Compass Academy is an innovative STEM-focused public charter school located in Bloomington, MN. Dedicated to academic excellence, Compass offers a dynamic learning environment for students from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade. Responsibilities/Duties: Provide instruction in all areas as defined by the IEP, this may include resource room instruction and inclusion (co-teaching) practices Prepares lesson plans for specific direct instruction that aligns with student?s IEP goals and state standards. Consult with school personnel and parents of children with autism regarding appropriate programming Monitors student progress as described in student IEP?s and complete quarterly progress reports In collaboration with regular education teachers, adapts classroom activities, assignments (e.g. reinforcement of IEP goals and objectives, etc.) Collaborates with regular education teacher(s) or other staff for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, and providing services in compliance with established guidelines and for the purpose of promoting continuous improvement of individual student goals. Work together with service providers and case managers to ensure appropriate programming for students with autism Participates in professional learning communities, building and district wide professional development. Completes all required due process paperwork required and/or mandated by state and federal laws or as required by the District. Plans, develops and writes individualized education programs (IEP?s) that address individualized learning goals, objectives, learning strategies and behavior management plans for students with special needs.
