Position Overview: The 504 Specialist oversees the district''s secondary (grades 7-12) implementation of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, ensuring students with disabilities receive equitable access to educational programs and activities. This role coordinates referral, evaluation, eligibility, and plan development processes while supporting consistent, legally compliant implementation of accommodations and support. The 504 Specialist serves as a key resource for staff, students, and families, providing guidance on regulatory requirements, best practices, and procedural safeguards. This position collaborates closely with the district 504 coordinator, school administrators, educators, and support personnel to promote inclusive practices and remove barriers to student success. Primary Responsibilities: Duties of this job include, but are not limited to? Ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and applicable federal/state regulations within the secondary (grades 7-12) setting. Working with a team of professionals, coordinates the Section 504 referral, evaluation, and eligibility determination processes. Facilitate 504 team meetings and guide teams in making legally sound decisions. Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of student 504 Plans. Ensure approved accommodations and supports are communicated to relevant staff and implemented with fidelity. Maintain accurate, confidential documentation related to referrals, evaluations, plans, and reviews. Provide guidance and consultation to administrators, teachers, and support staff regarding Section 504 requirements and best practices. Serve as a resource for students and families regarding rights, procedures, and supports under Section 504. Monitor plan effectiveness and coordinate periodic reviews and reevaluations. Provide professional learning and training to staff on Section 504 obligations and procedures. Assist in resolving concerns or disputes related to 504 identification, accommodations, or implementation. Collaborate with school personnel to promote equitable access to educational programs and activities. Coordinate transitions to ensure continuity of accommodations when students change schools or grade levels. Experience: The candidate must be knowledgeable in types of behavioral and academic accommodations and supports appropriate for students and must be proficient in aspects of the requirements and implementation of section 504 accommodation plans. The candidate must also be committed to continuous improvement and professional learning. Qualifications: Successful candidates will? effectively collaborate and successfully communicate regularly with school staff and students'' families to make educational decisions, using family and community resources to support learning; facilitate positive interactions between students and staff and student and peers; support both classroom and support staff in implementing accommodations and support as written in 504 accommodation plans; use student assessment findings to provide developmentally appropriate accommodations and support to meet student needs; and demonstrate a solid knowledge of section 504 Rehabilitation Act procedures to manage and maintain appropriate files. Licensing RequirementsSalary: Must have a current Minnesota license in school psychology, school counseling, school social work or special education. Salary: Group Teachers Position 1.0 FTE Teacher Rate of Pay $53,228-$107,781/school year (placement determined based on experience and qualifications) Benefits Medical, Dental, Sick Leave, 403(b), Life, LTD, FSA Other Salary pro-rated based on start date.
