Compliance and monitoring of Special Education due process. Check Special Education files. Assists Special Ed teachers with questions. Attends all IEP meetings and planning assessments or summaries. Organizes staff development opportunities for SPED paras. Attends MTSS. Arranges SPED bussing as needed. Coordinates with other lead teachers regarding student t placement. Attends/arranges interagency meetings as needed. Consults with teachers and paras in all disabilities areas (ASD, EBD, OT, PT, LD, DCD, SPL and health services). Responsible for SPED budget (materials and staff development). Communicates student issues with staff. Facilitates transition of special ed students from middle school to high school. Case manage assessments as needed. Conducts para training in the fall and periodically as needed or on in-service days (regular and special-needs training). In charge of para evaluations. Organizes and runs para meetings for Special Ed as needed. Coordinates, schedules and supervises all paras. Meets with students as needed (for students beyond typical classroom management). Processes enrollment for transfer students with IEPs. Other duties assigned. Qualifications: Must be licensed as a special education teacher in the State of Minnesota. Teachers must be able to demonstrate the highest commitment to student achievement and effective development. Teachers must have the willingness to adapt to becoming part of a total school effort in educating our students. Teachers must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with other staff members, students and parents in providing and promoting positive relationships. Teachers must be of the highest integrity with a strong commitment to modeling excellence in all aspects of the teacher/student/parent relationships.
