The role ensures efficient, effective, and compliant management of district resources, including budgeting, accounting, purchasing, facilities management, payroll and benefits, and the preparation of all budgetary and financial information to the School Board, Superintendent, and other outside entities. The Finance Director is also responsible for all the operations and personnel of the district engaged in the business office. Licensure Required: Requires a minimum of a Bachelor''s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Education Administration, or a related field; Master''s degree preferred. Three or more years of experience in a school district or public sector finance, operations, or related fields. Demonstrate success in financial management, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting. Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing public school districts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. MASBO certification and/or CPA preferred. Compensation: $100,000-$125,000 annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the District, overseeing fiscal operations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards, laws, rules, regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements. Provides financial analysis and forecasting to aid in financial planning, budget preparation, and organizational planning assistance. Develop financial operations for the district, including accounting activities, financial investments, payroll, benefits program and purchasing. Develop, propose, and implement all board-approved annual budgets. Perform revenue forecasting, expenditure tracking, cash flow management and short-term investment strategies. Compile and analyze levy data and provide clear recommendations. Prepare and present the necessary information for the annual levy certification and Truth-in-Taxation hearing. Review and manage property and liability insurance coverage for school facilities. Review and manage employee insurance programs in conjunction with Human Resources. Lead and coordinate the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison with auditors. Oversee facilities and food service-related budgets and expenditures to maintain financial accountability and efficiency. Maintain a system of controls and record keeping, ensuring expenditures are within the limitations of the approved budget. Maintain UFARS accounting procedures as established by state statute and the Minnesota Department of Education. Fiscal planning, budget development, administration and reporting process that ensures internal controls and compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations. Nonpublic administration - nonpublic aid and transportation. Garner bids and quotes for food service, facilities, transportation and insurance. Federal grant budgeting and management. Annual bond disclosures and semi-annual bond payments Surplus property. LTFM 10-year plan. Annual transportation reporting and approval of special transportation requests. Conduct cost analysis and evaluate operational efficiency. Perform estimation of student enrollment based on legislative funding in order to support district growth and sustainability.
