SIGNATURE PROGRAM DIRECTOR, The Major: Academic Inquiry Program 2026-2027 PURPOSE: Shattuck St. Mary?s, an independent college preparatory boarding/day school (grades 6-12) in Faribault, Minnesota, is seeking a Director for The Major Signature Program beginning in August 2026. The Major is a cohort-based academic Signature Program where students pursue areas of interest through research, projects, mentorship, and experiential learning. The program serves a range of students, from those engaged in advanced, self-directed work to those developing direction and purpose through inquiry-based learning. The Director leads all aspects of the program, including instruction, student mentorship, operations, program development, and communication. We are seeking a dynamic educator who is intellectually curious, collaborative, highly organized, and energized by working with students across a wide range of interests and disciplines. We are a global community defined by engagement, openness, and persistence. Through immersive learning and our signature programs, we empower students to shape and accelerate their goals, grow as individuals, and lead with integrity. Candidates should be comfortable working in an innovative educational environment, familiar with technology in the classroom, and open to interdisciplinary and blended learning experiences. Key responsibilities include: ? Teaching and developing the core Major seminar ? Mentoring students in sustained research and project-based work ? Establishing clear expectations for student progress and outcomes ? Coordinating with faculty to support students across the broader academic program ? Planning and leading field trips and travel experiences aligned with program goals ? Managing the program budget ? Partnering with admissions on recruitment and retention efforts ? Supporting program communication and marketing ? Continuing to shape and strengthen the future direction of the program Shattuck St. Mary?s is a boarding/day school and faculty members are expected to be involved with both co-curricular activities and standard residential life duties involved with a residential school setting. In addition, full-time faculty members serve as advisors to a group of students. Shattuck St. Mary?s teacher salaries are based on experience and range from $39,000 for beginning teachers to the mid-70s for our most experienced faculty members. In addition to cash salaries, SSM faculty are eligible to receive generous benefits including family housing and meals on campus. QUALIFICATIONS: ? Bachelor?s Degree required; Master?s Degree preferred ? At least 2-4 years of teaching experience preferred ? Strong communication and collaborative skills ? Ability to mentor and support students with a wide range of interests ? Demonstrated ability to bring structure and clarity to open-ended work ? Experience with project-based learning, research, interdisciplinary teaching, or experiential education preferred ?
