POSITION TITLE: Instructional Coach & Advanced Academics Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Teaching and Learning
POSITION OBJECTIVE: To directly or indirectly assist and support students and teachers as it aligns with the mission, vision, pillars of DaVinci Academy. This position works primarily with teachers in grades 4-8.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the Instructional Coach are to actively work alongside teachers and administration to ensure that DaVinci Academy implements best practices and high-quality instruction in order to increase student engagement, improve academic achievement, and to close the achievement gap.
The following is a non-inclusive list of responsibilities that may be part of an Instructional Coach assignment.
Instructional Support
- Partner with teachers to plan, implement, and refine high-quality, standards-aligned instruction
- Model effective instructional strategies, including differentiation and student engagement techniques
- Provide non-evaluative coaching through observation, feedback, and reflective conversations
- Work with teachers through observations and meetings to determine appropriate curriculum pacing
- Support teachers in implementing best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Ensure teachers have resources and materials to better execute standards-aligned lessons
- Provide guidance to teachers on differentiation strategies, enrichment opportunities, and instructional practices for advanced learners
Data Analysis & Student Achievement
- Assist teachers in analyzing student data to inform instructional decisions
- Facilitate data team meetings and guide goal setting based on student performance
- Support progress monitoring and intervention planning
- Coordinate and administer assessments to identify students for advanced academic programming; analyze results to support accurate placement decisions
- Communicate assessment results, placement decisions, and program information clearly with families and staff
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to advanced academic identification and student progress
- Monitor the effectiveness of advanced academic programming and make recommendations for continuous improvement
Professional Learning
- Design and deliver professional development aligned to school and district goals
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new teachers
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Stay current on research-based instructional practices and share with staff
Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate with the Instructional Leadership Team to support instructional priorities
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with staff
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice
- Support school-wide initiatives and improvement plans
- Collaborate with teachers to support the academic and social-emotional needs of advanced learners
Classroom Environment & Equity
- Support teachers in creating inclusive, culturally responsive classrooms
- Promote instructional practices that meet diverse student needs
- Assist with behavior and classroom management strategies that foster positive learning environments
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching License, preferred Tier 3 or Tier 4, in relevant field
- At least five years of teaching experience, preferably in intermediate or middle school grades
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience using Google Classroom
- Curriculum planning/alignment and instructional experience
- Experience with differentiation
- Willingness to identify, interpret and follow school policies and procedures
- Show initiative and function as a self-starter
- Physical demands: able to stand for long periods of time.
Position Information:
- Salary Range: The 2026-2027 salary range for this position is $42,024 to $79,568.00. Salary offers will consider the candidate''s experience, education, skills, and DaVinci Academy''s budget. Experienced candidates should expect a salary offer around the midpoint of the salary range.
- In exceptional cases, salaries exceeding the midpoint may be offered to attract candidates for hard-to-fill positions or those with specialized skills. Such decisions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Duty Days: Modified year round, 188 duty days per year
- Time Off: 3 days of PTO, and 10 days sick time to accrue
- Benefits eligible
