The teacher will foster student growth in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while utilizing digital learning platforms and online instructional strategies to support student success in a virtual environment. The position promotes communication skills, critical thinking, appreciation of literature, and independent learning through synchronous and asynchronous instruction. Essential Functions Teacher will be required to be on campus at Brainerd High School Monday through Friday Develops and administers an online English curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. Creates and maintains a virtual classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, engaging, and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction and student learning. Develops digital lesson plans, instructional materials, and online learning experiences that effectively utilize virtual teaching tools and platforms. Provides synchronous and asynchronous instruction in English grammar and syntax, sentence and paragraph structure, composition, vocabulary, creative writing, communication, and literature. Utilizes learning management systems, video conferencing tools, and educational technology to deliver instruction, monitor participation, and support student achievement. Promotes student engagement and accountability in an online learning environment through regular communication, feedback, and virtual office hours. Develops standards for critical analysis through virtual discussions, collaborative activities, and analysis of literature and media. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress using online assessment tools and modifies instructional methods to meet individual student needs, including students with special needs. Maintains familiarity with district and Minnesota State standardized assessments for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement. Communicates effectively and consistently with students, parents/guardians, counselors, and staff regarding student progress and performance. Organizes and maintains accurate digital records for attendance, grading, student participation, and communication as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement in students'' education through timely and professional virtual communication. Establishes and maintains expectations for student behavior, digital citizenship, and academic integrity within the online classroom environment. Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in virtual and in-person faculty meetings, committees, and professional development activities as required. Selects and requisitions appropriate digital curriculum resources, instructional aids, and technology tools to support online instruction. Continues professional growth by participating in training related to virtual instruction, educational technology, curriculum development, and current educational practices. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
