.5 FTE Preschool (3-Year-Old) Teacher with Potential for Additional Afternoon Assignment Up to 1.0 FTE
Position Title: Preschool Teacher (3-Year-Old Section)
Location: Ortonville Elementary School
FTE: 0.5 FTE (Minimum Baseline) up to 1.0 FTE (Dependent on candidate versatility)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Morning Session (AM). Afternoon flexibility exists.
Timeline: For the 2026-2027 School Year
Position Purpose
Due to enrollment growth and section expansion, Ortonville Public Schools is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to lead a morning section of our 3-year-old Preschool / School Readiness program. The successful candidate will design and implement a high-quality environment aligned to developmental benchmarks in support of the social-emotional as well as academic growth of our youngest learners.
The Work Schedule Flexibility (AM/PM Structure)
- Baseline Assignment (.5 FTE): Daily morning section instruction, parent communication, child observations, and standard prep time focused entirely on the 3-year-old cohort.
- Afternoon Potential (Up to 1.0 FTE): Based on the qualifications, licensure, and interest of the applicant, the district is prepared to build an afternoon assignment to create a full-time position. Afternoon options may include:
- Targeted Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) programming or outreach.
- Other – dependent on district need and candidate qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate curriculum tailored to the developmental needs of 3-year-old children.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized classroom environment that meets the state-mandated and district standards and expectations.
- Assess student progress using observation-based tools and share developmental updates with parents during conferences.
- Partner with the PreK-6 Principal/Special Education Coordinator to support early intervention screening and implement accommodations for students receiving early childhood special education services.
Licensure & Qualifications (Minnesota Requirements)
Applicants must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Minnesota teaching license issued by PELSB in at least one of the following areas:
- Early Childhood Education (Birth–Grade 3)
- Preprimary Education (Age 3–PreK)
- Candidates holding a Tier 1, 2, 3, or 4 MN license will be considered. The district is willing to partner with strong applicants on an appropriate PELSB tiered licensure pathway if necessary.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary and benefits are determined by placement on the current ISD #2903 Teachers'' Master Agreement schedule.
