Job Goal The Media Specialist plays a vital role in supporting students'' intellectual, spiritual, and technological formation through both library and technology instruction. This individual will foster a love of reading, inquiry, creativity, and lifelong learning while helping students develop the skills necessary to navigate an increasingly digital world with wisdom, responsibility, and faith. Through library instruction for students in Preschool through Grade 5, the Media Specialist will cultivate curiosity, imagination, and a deep appreciation for quality literature. Students will be guided to discover truth, beauty, and goodness through stories and informational texts that enrich their understanding of God, themselves, and the world around them. Through technology instruction for students in Preschool through Grade 8, the Media Specialist will help students become thoughtful, ethical, and capable users of technology. Instruction will emphasize digital citizenship, responsible technology use, creativity, problem-solving, research skills, and the effective use of digital tools to support learning and communication. The Media Specialist will create engaging learning experiences that encourage students to think critically, communicate effectively, and use technology and information resources in ways that reflect the values and mission of Catholic education. Essential Responsibilities Teach technology classes for students in Preschool through Grade 8. Provide library instruction and library services for students in Preschool through Grade 5. Foster a culture of reading and literacy throughout the school community. Maintain and manage the school library collection and circulation system. Assist students in selecting age-appropriate and engaging reading materials. Teach information literacy, research skills, digital citizenship, and responsible technology use. Support classroom teachers in integrating technology and information resources into instruction. Collaborate with faculty to promote student learning and engagement across content areas. Maintain educational technology resources and assist with basic technology support as needed. Model and promote ethical, safe, and responsible use of technology. Integrate Catholic values and faith formation into instruction and interactions with students. Participate fully in the life and mission of the school community. Preferred Qualifications and Credentials Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in Education, Library Media, Educational Technology, or a related field. Valid Minnesota teaching license or ability to obtain appropriate licensure. Knowledge of children''s literature, information literacy, educational technology, and digital citizenship. Ability to design engaging, student-centered learning experiences. Strong organizational and technology skills. Collaborative working ability with faculty, staff, students, and families. Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education. High sense of professionalism and a desire for continuous growth and learning.
