North Metro Flex Academy is a K-8 th grade public charter school, located in North St. Paul, Minnesota. North Metro Flex Academy?s mission is to prepare a diverse community of elementary and middle school students to be successful in high school, college and in their chosen vocation through a flexible, individualized learning experience that develops analytical, compassionate, disciplined and self-directed learners. THE ELL TEACHER WILL: 1. Provide English instruction to ELL students. 2. Serve as a resource for the ELL program. 3. Serve as a resource for classroom teachers, assisting in the development of ELL instruction. 4. Ensure that all identified ELL students are receiving sheltered English instruction. 5. Work with the DAC (District Assessment Coordinator) to have students complete the Access Testing. 6. Train teachers to work effectively with ELL students and understanding the program. 7. Deal tactfully and skillfully with a variety of individuals, including students, teachers, and parents. 8. Complete progress reports and track progress of students. 9. Be an effective organizer/planner. 10. Participate in staff in-services and conferences. 11. Work closely with the principal, Literacy Lead, and paraprofessionals. 12. Help support a Heritage Language pilot project with Native Spanish Speaking students and Spanish Speaking paraprofessionals. 13. Work with the Operations Manager, DAC and paraprofessionals in the building to better serve the language and assessments process. Preferred Qualifications: Grade K-8 elementary level teaching experience with strong competency in the area of literacy, writing and reading, instructions, planning, experience and working with students from diverse backgrounds and ELL populations. Current Teaching License or willingness to obtain licensure from MN Department of Education.
