The Activities Director provides leadership and day-to-day management for the district?s interscholastic athletic and fine arts/co-curricular activities programs, ensuring a high-quality, safe, and student-centered experience that reflects the values and culture of the Ortonville school community. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who wants to shape a program in a tight-knit district where activities are central to school and community life. Position Structure The Activities Director role may be offered as a stand-alone position or combined with a teaching assignment or other district responsibilities, depending on the successful candidate?s licensure, strengths, and qualifications. Candidates from a range of backgrounds, including those holding a Minnesota teaching license in any field or the ability to obtain one are encouraged to apply, as the final structure of the position will be determined collaboratively based on candidate fit and district need. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide leadership, organization, and oversight for all interscholastic athletic and fine arts/co-curricular activities. Ensure full compliance with all Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) rules, regulations, and student eligibility requirements. Schedule contests, practices, events, officials, and transportation; coordinate facility use. Recruit, support, supervise, and evaluate head coaches and activity advisors; recommend staffing in coordination with administration. Manage activity budgets, equipment, uniforms, and facilities responsibly. Oversee event management, game-day operations, supervision, and crowd control. Maintain student eligibility records, physicals, and required forms and documentation. Serve as the district?s liaison to the MSHSL, the conference, officials, families, media, and the community. Communicate clearly and proactively with students, parents, staff, and community members. Foster a positive, character-building culture that puts student growth and relationships first. Attend evening and weekend events as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Bachelor?s degree. Knowledge of (or demonstrated ability to learn) MSHSL rules and activities/athletics administration. Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Preferred Experience in athletics/activities administration, coaching, or activity advising. If the position is structured as a combined teaching/Activities Director assignment, then a valid Minnesota teaching license (in any field) ? Compensation Salary and benefits are commensurate with the candidate?s qualifications and the final structure of the position.
