The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a comprehensive baseball program that emphasizes character, sportsmanship, skill development, academic success, and competitive excellence. The head coach will provide leadership for all levels of the program while fostering a positive and inclusive culture that aligns with the mission and values of Buffalo High School. Program Leadership Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the entire Buffalo Baseball program. Develop and communicate a clear philosophy and long-term plan for the program. Foster a culture built on integrity, accountability, teamwork, and respect. Promote sportsmanship and serve as a positive role model for student-athletes. Student-Athlete Development Teach the fundamentals of baseball while emphasizing continuous skill development. Promote leadership, character, discipline, and personal growth. Support the academic success and well-being of student-athletes. Create an inclusive environment where all athletes are valued and challenged. Coaching Staff Leadership Recruit, mentor, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches. Conduct regular staff meetings and maintain consistent communication. Ensure alignment in coaching philosophy and player development across all levels. Program Administration Coordinate practice plans, game preparation, and offseason development opportunities. Assist with scheduling, equipment management, inventory, and budget responsibilities. Ensure compliance with all school, district, conference, and MSHSL policies. Complete required administrative duties in a timely manner. Communication & Relationships Build positive relationships with student-athletes, families, staff, officials, youth coaches, and community members. Communicate program expectations clearly and consistently. Represent Buffalo High School with professionalism and integrity. Community & Youth Development Build strong relationships with Buffalo Youth Baseball and other community baseball organizations. Support the development of a consistent program philosophy from youth through varsity. Promote enthusiasm and participation throughout the baseball community. Professional Expectations Maintain current coaching certifications as required by the MSHSL. Participate in professional development opportunities. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and growth as a coach and educator. Preferred Qualifications Previous successful baseball coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a successful athletic program. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Commitment to developing the whole student-athlete. Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administration, families, and the community. Coaching license or coaching minor preferred, not required.
