SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL Rochester Beacon Academy is seeking a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. As a public charter school, Rochester Beacon Academy serves students in grades 6-12 and our SOAR 18-22 year old transition program with varying needs. Rochester Beacon Academy?s students and staff provide a welcoming community and are dedicated to the differentiated needs of all students. Your job responsibilities includes but are not limited to: Instructional Support Assist teachers in delivering instruction by reinforcing lessons in small groups or one-on-one. Support students in accessing curriculum and adapting materials as directed by the teacher. Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in students? IEPs. Monitor and collect data on student performance and behavior. Student Support Provide individualized or small-group academic, social, emotional, or behavioral support. Support students with organization, task completion, and following directions. Assist with communication needs, including the use of assistive technology when appropriate. Encourage independence and self-advocacy skills. Behavioral Support Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed by the teacher or case manager. Reinforce positive behavior strategies and de-escalation techniques. Monitor student safety and support emotional regulation. Collect data on behavior. Classroom Support Assist with preparation of instructional materials. Support classroom management by helping maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment. Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, or other non-instructional times. Communicate student progress and concerns to the teacher/case manager. Collaboration Work under the supervision of licensed teachers and staff, following their direction. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development as required. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information. Cleaning & Sanitation Duties Help maintain clean and organized classrooms, common areas, and instructional spaces. Wipe down tables, desks, and shared materials as needed. Sanitize equipment, supplies, and learning tools used by students. Assist with cleaning up spills, accidents, or messes promptly and safely. Support students in maintaining personal hygiene and clean workspaces. Other Duties Assist with personal care needs (toileting, feeding, mobility) if specified in a student?s IEP. Supervise during arrival, dismissal, and transportation if required. Perform other related duties as assigned by administration or supervising staff.   • Sanitize equipment, supplies, and learning tools used by students.

  • Assist with cleaning up spills, accidents, or messes promptly and safely.

  • Support students in maintaining personal hygiene and clean workspaces.

Other Duties

  • Assist with personal care needs (toileting, feeding, mobility) if specified in a student’s IEP.

  • Supervise during arrival, dismissal, and transportation if required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by administration or supervising staff.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Experience with middle/high school students preferred

  • Experience working with students with special needs preferred

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Schedule:

  • This position is a 1.0 FTE

  • Benefits are included
