St. Paul City School - STEM Classroom Teacher

The STEM Classroom Teacher provides engaging, hands-on STEM instruction for students in grades K-12. The specialist designs learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving through engineering, technology, robotics, coding, makerspace activities, and design challenges. Lessons integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while supporting Minnesota Academic Standards and preparing students with future-ready skills. This position reports to the Director of Teaching and Learning.
Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging STEM instruction for students in grades K-12 aligned to Minnesota Academic Standards.
Create a safe, inclusive, and collaborative learning environment that promotes creativity, innovation, and problem solving.
Develop interdisciplinary learning experiences that connect STEM concepts to real-world applications and career exploration.
Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, maintain accurate student records, provide timely grades and feedback, and communicate student progress to families in accordance with school policies.
STEM Instruction and Curriculum
Implement and teach a standards-based STEM curriculum that engages students in engineering, robotics, coding, makerspace, design thinking, computer science, and emerging technologies through hands-on, project-based learning experiences.
Facilitate student learning using tools such as 3D printers, robotics kits, artificial intelligence, coding platforms, engineering materials, and digital design software.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and advanced learners.
Assess student learning using performance-based projects, demonstrations, presentations, and problem-solving tasks.
Makerspace & Technology Management
Manage and maintain the STEM classroom, makerspace, equipment, and technology resources.
Ensure safe and responsible use of tools, equipment, and digital resources.
Organize materials and develop systems for maintaining equipment, including robotics kits, 3D printers, and engineering supplies.
Stay current on emerging STEM technologies and instructional best practices.
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
Communicate student progress to parents and guardians
Celebrate student learning through showcases, and family engagement events.
Foster partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and community organizations to expand STEM opportunities and career awareness.
Skills knowledge and abilities:
Knowledge of STEM education, engineering design process, project-based learning, and inquiry-based instruction.
Experience using instructional technology such as robotics platforms, coding programs, makerspace tools, and 3D printing equipment.
Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that develop critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Strong classroom management, communication, organization, and collaboration skills with a commitment to culturally responsive teaching and equitable learning opportunities for all students.
Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota Teaching License in one or more of the following areas preferred: Elementary Education, Middle School Math, Math 5-12, Science, Technology and Engineering, CTE or other applicable licensure. (or ability to obtain appropriate licensure).
Computer Science endorsement or other applicable computer science credential (preferred, if applicable)
Experience teaching STEM, technology, science, engineering, robotics, computer science, or makerspace education.
Knowledge of project-based learning, design thinking, and integration of STEM across multiple content areas.
Commitment to fostering innovation, curiosity, and lifelong learning in students.

Salary: $48,331.20 - $85,900.16
