Start Your Online Application Now Date of Availability: 08/19/2026 Position Summary - Art Teacher (Kindergarten?8th Grade) Northeast College Prep is seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to inspire students in Kindergarten through eighth grade to explore, create, and express themselves through visual arts. This is a full-time specialist teaching position serving approximately 250 students in a diverse, high-expectations public charter school. Our Art Teacher plays an important role in helping students develop creativity, confidence, perseverance, and pride in their work while exposing them to a wide variety of artistic styles, techniques, cultures, and media. The ideal candidate understands that art is about much more than creating beautiful projects. It is about helping students solve problems, take risks, communicate ideas, appreciate diverse perspectives, and discover their own talents. Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To: Instruction Plan and deliver engaging art lessons for students in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Teach a variety of artistic techniques, media, and processes appropriate for each developmental level. Introduce students to artists, art history, and artistic traditions from diverse cultures around the world. Foster creativity while teaching craftsmanship, reflection, and artistic vocabulary. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners. Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming art classroom. Display and celebrate student artwork throughout the school whenever appropriate. Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback that supports growth. Schoolwide Responsibilities Support the school''s mission by providing small-group academic intervention or instructional support when not teaching art classes. Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate art into broader learning experiences when appropriate. Assist with schoolwide events, student showcases, and community celebrations. Support school operations through responsibilities such as lunch supervision, substitute teaching, and other shared duties. Participate fully in professional development, staff meetings, and collaborative planning. Professional Responsibilities Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Maintain accurate records of student progress. Communicate effectively with families regarding student learning and growth. Implement schoolwide behavior expectations consistently. Help maintain a positive, joyful, and professional school culture. Required Qualifications Minnesota teaching license in Visual Arts (or eligibility to obtain licensure before employment). Ability to work effectively with diverse student and staff populations. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school art. Experience working in diverse urban schools. Experience integrating art with other academic subjects. Experience organizing student art shows or schoolwide creative projects. Compensation Northeast College Prep offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Base salary for BA if $45,276 and base salary for MA is $50,392. Salary is determined by years of experience and education.
