Position Purpose The Food Service Worker prepares and serves nutritious meals for school breakfasts and lunches, and maintains a safe and sanitary kitchen. Food Service Responsibilities Prepares breakfasts and lunches according to nutrition standards. Serves meals in a timely manner and in the correct proportions. Assists with the cleaning of trays, dishes, cooking pans, and utensils; takes care of recycling. Assists in cleaning counters,salad bar, stove, and equipment. Assists with ordering supplies. Unpacks, rotates stock, inventories, and sorts grocery deliveries. Follows Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP); takes temperature of all coolers/freezers. Complies with food regulations in health plans and 504s. Follows all federal and state requirements regarding food preparation. Education: High school degree, GED, or equivalent. Skill Requirements: Knowledge of care and use of kitchen equipment and appliances and proper sanitation methods. Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and procedures. Knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal state and local laws, rules, and regulations. Ability to calculate measurements. Knowledge of the organizational and communication channels of KCS. Skills in oral and written communication. Assess the needs of children. Maintain complete and accurate records. Professionally interact with all members of the community. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders. Prioritize and schedule work tasks. Complete tasks within established deadlines. Produce quality, accurate work. Work productively. Maintain an effective organizational system. Demonstrate initiative and flexibility to adjust to unexpected changes in work demands. Admit mistakes and learn from them. Maintain confidentiality. Demonstrate a consistent work attitude. Comet Kids Aide Description: Under the direction of the Comet Kids Supervisor, engages in lessons, games, and activities with the Comet Kids students to provide a caring and nurturing environment for all students attending the Comet Kids program. Comet Kids Aide
