We are seeking an Elementary Technology Integration Specialist and K-12 Librarian to join our team. The qualified applicant will hold a Minnesota teaching license in Library Media Specialist, Technology or related field, and will: have a strong understanding of and ability to teach 21st century technology skills. demonstrate an enthusiasm for library management and oversight, as well as literacy development. work well with others. Responsibilities include: Elementary Technology Integration Specialist: Teaching Integrate technology instruction into Science classes Integration Collaborate with elementary teachers to support their use of technology to enhance instruction in order to assist teachers in meeting state and national standards for subject-area and technology-learning objectives. Create learning resources for elementary teachers, staff and students. These may include Web sites, tutorials, interactive programs and databases that support teachers in integrating technology. Support the technology education of elementary teachers, through delivery and coordination of professional development. Support the technology education of parents through the delivery and coordination of parent education activities. Identify trends in software, curriculum, teaching strategies and other educational areas. Assess and develop technology skill levels of students, teachers and staff. Serve as an active member of the District Technology Task Force K-12 Librarian: Oversee K-12 Library Operations Administer the library program, developing policies and procedures to assure efficient operation and services. Maintain automated catalog and circulation system. Select, purchase and process new materials to assure a current, balanced and culturally relevant collection. Oversee the library budget. Classify, catalogs, and circulates library materials and instructs students and staff in the use of the library system. Train and supervise adult and student volunteers. Inventory and maintain the library collection. Work with school staff to develop a schedule for effective use of the library by classes and individuals. In consultation with middle and high school principal as needed Teacher Teach library classes to elementary students. Actively promote reading and library use through such activities as storytelling, booktalks, displays, publications, reading programs, and special events. Update instructional and library-related professional skills through attending conferences and participating in continuing education opportunities. Informational Consultant Collaborate with instructional staff in preparing and delivering lessons that make effective use of information resources and incorporate the use of information literacy skills. Provide staff development opportunities in the use of information resources in a variety of formats and integration of information literacy skills throughout the curriculum. Inform students and staff of the arrival of new materials. Required Skills In addition to experience in related responsibilities, the applicant should have: Teaching experience. An understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology integration. Familiarity with methods for integrating technology into the curriculum Experience with effective technology teaching strategies in teaching software and hardware skills. Technology skills in up-to-date computer software, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, Web page development, presentation, digital video and audio editing, image processing, and graphics applications.
