Track Coach - High Jump
Track Coach - Shot Put & Discus
Coaches will serve as an assistant to the head coaches of the high school boys and girls track and field teams. They will be responsible for developing and helping execute practice plans, along with managing athletes at meets, while fostering a safe, inclusive environment that aligns with BSM’s mission and character values. Ideal candidates view success not just as winning, but as helping team members to reach goals; having a positive mental attitude, great energy, and commitment to the success of our student athletes, as well as the program, are key.
Responsibilities
● Planning and executing organized and structured practices teaching student athletes jumping fundamentals 2-4 days per week, with the physical training necessary for them to realize a measurable degree of success. Practice days are flexible on a week to week basis, if needed.
● Be present for competition days.
● Assist with practices and meets as needed: setup, working events at meets, collaborating on meet programs, supervising student athletes, and evaluating student athlete performances.
● Recognize contributions of team members and strive to impress upon them that their efforts are valued, from the beginner to the top varsity athlete.
● Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and personal growth in alignment with BSM''s ethos.
Qualifications:
● A strong background in high school and/or collegiate level track and field competition as an athlete and/or coach.
● Complete Minnesota State High School League coaching modules on an annual basis.
● Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, other coaches, and administration.
● Prior coaching experience in school or community settings.
Other Requirements:
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of our Safe Environment process which includes a background check, VIRTUS training, additional online training, and an agreement to a Code Of Conduct.
Season & Time Commitment
● Season Duration: March 9, 2027 - June 6, 2027
● Practice Schedule: 2:50-5 p.m. Monday through Friday; however, there are no formal practices when school is not in session. Coach will be present a minimum of two days per week.
● Meet Schedule: Finalized dates will be released no later than February 1, 2027. Expect that there will be one competition day per week (Monday-Friday) starting the last week of March, 2027 with a 3 p.m. start time. Attendance is required, barring any extenuating circumstances.
*It is the expectation that on meet days, Coach is available starting at 2 p.m., unless otherwise discussed with the Head Coach(es), or noted as an early start or Saturday meet. In the event that the Coach will be meeting the team at the venue instead of at BSM, they will make every effort to be at the meet site in time for the coach’s meeting.
