General Definition of Work Performs manual work washing kitchen and lunchroom dishes and assisting in lunchroom operations, and related work as required. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Food Service Supervisor and Head Cook. Essential Functions Scrubs and stacks dishes, pots, pans, kettles and other cooking utensils; Cleans and sanitizes pots and pans used in food production, and runs trays, silverware and other service ware through the dish washer; Inspects dishes to ensure each is clean and dry; restocks dish storage areas with clean dishes; Cleans work surfaces, eating and food preparation area; Assists food service personnel in other cashiering or cleaning duties; May prepare and serve breakfast to students; Performs other duties as apparent or assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Some knowledge of the use or care of food preparation equipment; some knowledge of U.S.D.A. rules and regulations; ability to use standardized and specialized kitchen utensils and equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED. Salary Range: $17.92 - $19.92/hour Physical Requirements This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 70 pounds of force; worker is frequently standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has no special vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather) and occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office with typewriters and/or computer printers, light traffic).
