St. Mary?s Mission School--Elementary Special Teacher (Physical Education, Music, or Art) Position Type: Full-time or Part-time Reports to: Principal Position Summary The Specials Teacher at St. Mary?s Mission School in Red Lake is responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and faith-filled environment where students develop their physical, creative, and personal gifts through engaging instruction in one or more special areas, including physical education, music, art, or other specialty subjects. The Specials Teacher nurtures the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of students through meaningful learning experiences that honor the dignity of each child and reflect the mission and values of our Catholic school. In addition to teaching assigned special area class(es) the Specials Teacher may partner with K-6 classroom teachers to provide intervention support that helps students achieve academic goals. Responsibilities include teaching one or multiple special area subjects (Physical Education, Music, or Art) based on the candidate''s qualifications, experience, interests, and the needs of the school. Preference will be given to candidates who are flexible and willing to support multiple special areas. This position may be full-time or part-time. Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned with state standards and the mission of Catholic education. Foster teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship through individual and group activities. Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and cultural backgrounds of all students, with sensitivity Indigenous teachings. Provide intervention support for students by: Implementing targeted strategies to support academic success. Collaborating with classroom teachers to reinforce learning goals. Monitoring progress and documenting interventions in accordance with school guidelines. Offering small-group or one-on-one support when needed. Build strong relationships with families and the Red Lake Nation community to support student growth and wellness. Supervise students safely during indoor and outdoor activities. Maintain accurate records of student progress. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and families to support the holistic development of each student. Participate actively in school-wide events and activities. Serve as a role model for Christian values, demonstrating integrity, compassion, and a commitment to service. Qualifications Bachelor?s degree in related content area Current teaching license/certification in related content area (or ability to obtain). Previous teaching, intervention, or technology support experience preferred, especially in Catholic or mission school settings. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to Catholic education, including willingness to support and model the teachings of the Catholic Church. Cultural understanding and respect for the heritage, values, and traditions of the Red Lake Nation. Willing to embrace new technology tools and assist others in using them effectively.
