HLCS will be a smaller community school with smaller class sizes which will lead to more individualized attention and care. Providing hands on learning experiences fostering curiosity and allowing students to discover their abilities, values, passions. All members in the school community will strive to take responsibility in their learning, collaborate and build mutual trust so all individuals feel safe and confident to take responsible risks. Our school will intentionally foster a space of inclusivity for all members. Position Overview The Middle Level Mathematics Teacher will provide engaging, developmentally responsive mathematics instruction for students in grades 5?8. The teacher will foster academic growth, critical thinking, collaboration, and social-emotional development through EL Education, outdoor learning, and authentic mathematical experiences. Core Job Responsibilities Design and implement discovery-based mathematics lessons. Use outdoor, experiential, and real-world learning to make mathematical concepts meaningful. Develop Learning Expeditions that encourage students to apply mathematical thinking. Facilitate authentic assessments, critique, revision, and high-quality student work. Integrate SEL, Crew, trauma-informed practices, and restorative practices to foster belonging and emotional safety. Partner with families to support the whole child and strengthen school culture. Co-teach, co-plan, and co-reflect with colleagues.
