Start Your Online Application Now Medical/Special Education Paraprofessional Location: Oak Ridge Early Learning Center Sartell-St. Stephen School District Contract Days: Student School Days Hours: 7:30am-2:30pm POSITION PURPOSE: Medical/Special Education Paraprofessionals provide assistance, under the direction of classroom teachers and Special Education staff, to students with special needs in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Responsibilities include supporting students with academic tasks, organization, behavior, supervision, personal hygiene, activities of daily living, mobility, and the development of functional and job skills. Medical/Special Education Paraprofessionals also provide student health support and are expected to perform assigned medical duties when a Health Assistant is unavailable. These duties may include administering and monitoring medications and prescribed medical interventions, providing first aid, assessing and documenting student illnesses and injuries, and carrying out health-related duties delegated by the Licensed School Nurse. JOB DUTIES: Duties may include: Student Support: Implement accommodations, modifications, and other supports identified in students'' IEPs under the direction of teachers and Special Education staff. Academic and Behavioral Assistance: Assist students with classroom assignments, organization, participation, behavior management, and development of functional, daily living, and job skills. Personal Care and Mobility: Provide assistance with personal hygiene and activities of daily living, which may include feeding, toileting/diapering, clothing changes, transfers, mobility, and therapist-directed exercises. Medical and Health Support: When a Health Assistant is unavailable, perform assigned health-related duties, including administering and monitoring medications and prescribed interventions, providing first aid, assessing and documenting illnesses and injuries, and carrying out duties delegated by the Licensed School Nurse. Student Supervision: Provide appropriate supervision and support throughout the school day, including classrooms, hallways, meals, recess, transportation areas, field trips, specialist areas, and other school or community-based settings. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School diploma 2. Acceptance of students'' disabilities and limitations. 3. Must be able to lift, pull, or move a minimum of 50 pounds. 4. Accepts direction from supervising teacher(s) and is willing to work as a team. 5. Medical Assisting Certification is preferred. 6. Highly Qualified Paraprofessional is preferred.
