POSITION DESCRIPTION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Assumes responsibility for the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the school and its site and provides leadership for night custodians.
- Cleans classrooms, offices, hallways, entryways, restrooms, and other common areas of the school on a regular basis and after events.
- Dusts, cleans, and sanitizes surfaces within the building not limited to: windows, ledges, desks, tables, countertops.
- Assists with the training of new custodial staff in proper cleaning and minor maintenance.
- Coordinates additional tasks for night custodians and substitutes as needed and as directed by the Chief Custodian.
- Keeps custodial records as assigned by the Chief Custodian and as required.
- As directed by the Chief Custodian, performs specialized cleaning operations as needed throughout the year, including, but not limited to stripping and waxing floors.
- Complies with health and safety codes, including OSHA standards.
- Follows protocol and participates in routine safety and security drills.
- Assists in maintaining and custodial machines and equipment.
- As directed by the Chief Custodian, performs minor building maintenance, including but not limited to: bulb replacement, furniture repair, and basic repairs to plumbing, heating and electrical equipment.
- Sets up furniture and equipment (tables, chairs, bleachers, risers, etc.) for school and community use.
- Moves furniture and/or equipment and assists with moving items within the building.
- Regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems, as directed by the Chief Custodian.
- Assists with the inventory management of building''s cleaning and custodial supplies in conjunction with the Chief Custodian.
- Reports acts of vandalism, theft, unsafe conditions or other physical conditions needing repair to the Chief Custodian, or Facilities and Plant Planning Coordinator as needed.
- Assists the Chief Custodian with routine and preventative maintenance on boilers and HVAC systems.
- Performs routine checks of building, grounds, and roof as required.
- Performs routine snow removal around building perimeter as needed and as directed by the Chief Custodian.
- As needed, opens and readies the building in the morning or closes and secures the building at night.
- Attends job related and/or mandatory workshops and training programs.
- Promptly reports custodial personnel issues to the Chief Custodian.
- Serves as the point of contact for vendors performing work on site after school hours.
- Provides objective feedback to the Chief Custodian regarding custodian staff performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Custodian, Facilities and Plant Planning Coordinator, or Building Principal.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to climb an 8-foot step ladder and/or up to a height of 12-feet.

PAY RATE:
- Base pay $27.57 plus night stipend $0.76.
