Position Title: Early Childhood Special Education Paraprofessional- Long Term Sub
FTE/Hours: Up to 20 Hours Per Week
Start Date: 09/01/2026
Projected End Date: 10/06/2026 (potential to be extended)
SUMMARY: Paraprofessional means a district employee who is primarily engaged in direct instruction with one or more pupils for instructional activities, physical or behavior management, or other purposes under the direction of a regular education or special education teacher or related services provider M.R. 3525.0200 Subp.10a
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties outlined below are intended as "representative" or "illustrative" examples of the level, nature, and decision making expected of positions of this classification. The duties are not intended to be a comprehensive listing of all duties and tasks performed by the employee assigned to this classification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Implement Problem Solving Process
- Participate in department meetings, district meetings, annual training, workshops
- Assist with learning/practice of appropriate behavior/social skills,
- Assist with child and program goals,
- Assists and reinforce learning in individual, small group, and whole class activities
- Responsible for direct care to Birth-K age children, which includes personal hygiene, feeding
- Assists teacher in maintaining discipline and other non-instructional functions
- Perform student transfer/mobility assistance
- Supervise in and escort to assigned locations (i.e.indoor, outdoor, bus, playground)
- Implement modifications/adaptations to enhance instruction
- Set-up, operate, maintain, and clean materials and equipment
- Provide care for children, which could include emergency first aid, medical emergencies, medical tasks
- Prepare for special events
- Plan and prepare activities
- Research and data analysis; maintain/enter data into data system
- Provides a safe and sanitary environment for students birth-age 5
- Communicate with teachers, students
- Assist in implementation/documentation of IEP goals/objectives
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality regarding the privacy of parents, students and staff.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee will frequently be asked to stand, walk, sit, hear, reach and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary:
- Range: $18.22/hr - $24.27/hr
- Placement is based on experience and education level, as per district guidelines.
