Start Your Online Application Now Date of Availability: 10/19/2026 Date Closing: Ongoing Belle Plaine School District is hiring Building Substitute Teachers for the 2026-2027 School Year. Position The School District agrees to employ the Employee as a Building Substitute Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The Employee will provide substitute teaching services and consistent instructional support as assigned by the School District. The Employee may be assigned to classrooms, grade levels, subject areas, or buildings based on the needs of the District. Work Year The Employee will be scheduled to work up to 160 days during the school year, based on the student and teacher calendar established by the School District and the District''s needs. The employee will report to work everyday at the start of the teacher day (7:30 am) for a specific work schedule and building assignment. This assignment may be modified by the School District based on operational needs. Compensation The Employee will be compensated at a rate of $200 per day worked. Payment will be made according to the School District''s regular payroll schedule and will be subject to all required federal and state taxes, deductions, and withholdings. Earned Sick and Safe Time The Employee will accrue and may use Earned Sick and Safe Time in accordance with Minnesota law and School District procedures implementing the Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time requirements. 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan The Employee will have access to participate in the School District''s 403(b) retirement savings plan in accordance with the terms and eligibility requirements of the plan. Health Insurance The Employee will be eligible to participate in the School District''s health insurance plan, subject to the terms, conditions, eligibility requirements, employee contribution amounts, and other provisions established by the School District and applicable insurance plan documents. Licensure and Qualifications The Employee must maintain all licenses, permits, background clearances, and other qualifications required by Minnesota law and the School District to serve as a Building Substitute Teacher. Failure to maintain the qualifications necessary to perform the position may result in termination of employment. Duties and Responsibilities The Employee will perform duties reasonably associated with the Building Substitute Teacher position, including: Providing classroom instruction based on lesson plans and materials provided by the regular classroom teacher or School District. Maintaining appropriate classroom management and student supervision. Following School District curriculum, policies, procedures, and instructional expectations. Maintaining student confidentiality. Completing attendance and other required classroom documentation. Communicating relevant information to the regular classroom teacher and building administration. Performing other substitute teaching or instructional support responsibilities as assigned by the administration. Assignment The Employee understands that this is a District Building Substitute Teacher position and that assignment to a particular building, classroom, teacher, grade level, or subject area will be dictated by the operational needs on a given day PreK-12. The School District reserves the right to assign or reassign the Employee based on student needs, staffing needs, absences, and other operational considerations. Attendance Because the purpose of the position is to provide consistent substitute coverage, regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position. The Employee must follow District procedures for reporting absences and requesting available leave. Employment Status The Employee will remain an at-will employee of the School District unless otherwise provided by the applicable collective bargaining agreement or law. Nothing in this agreement creates a guarantee of continued employment beyond its stated term or otherwise alters the Employee''s employment status.
