Middle School/High School St. James Public Schools Location: St. James Middle School/High School Application Deadline: Open until filled Reports To: Building Principal Position Classification: Non-Exempt St. James Public Schools is seeking a caring, dependable paraprofessional to support students at our Middle School/High School. Working alongside teachers and other school staff, this individual will help students succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially while encouraging independence and contributing to a safe, welcoming learning environment. Responsibilities include: Supporting students individually, in small groups, and within the classroom under the direction of licensed staff. Reinforcing instruction and assisting with accommodations, modifications, and daily routines. Supporting positive student behavior using district-approved strategies. Assisting with classroom materials, organization, and instructional technology. Supervising students during assigned activities and transitions. Communicating student observations to licensed staff and maintaining confidentiality. Collaborating with staff and participating in assigned professional learning. Required qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Meet Minnesota paraprofessional qualifications or be eligible to obtain them. Strong communication, collaboration, and basic technology skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and support students with varied learning needs. Previous experience working with children or supporting students with disabilities is preferred. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification is also preferred. The position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching, as well as assisting students physically when necessary.
