JOB TITLE Associate Artistic Director II CONTRACT Part-time, 6 hrs/wk for 20 weeks February - May Salary, $2,400 Monday and Thursday Evenings 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM FUNCTION OF THE JOB The Associate Artistic Director II oversees the musical and social development of all choristers entering their first season as members of The St. John’s Boys’ Choir. Along with the other music directors, they will also coordinate, mentor, and support all staff involved with new choristers. QUALIFICATIONS The Associate Artistic Director II must have the following minimum qualifications: * Strong vocal/choral pedagogy skills * Conducting and music literacy competency * The ability to teach children * Strong public relations skills * Strong managerial skills * Basic keyboard skills, sufficient to lead a rehearsal with young singers * Transportation to different locations DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include: * Conductor of the Training Choir, implementing the vocal/choral philosophies of the Artistic Director * Organizing, programming, and scheduling the Training Choir at two locations: Saint John’s University and Sartell (potential to add more sites with additional compensation) * Assists the Artistic Director as necessary and work closely with other music staff in the areas of music literacy * Works collaboratively with the Associate Artistic Director I to implement the music theory/literacy curriculum based on the Voice for Life model * Responsible for and shall participate in: * Monitoring good behavior * Physical set-up and dismantling of music rooms * Supervision/safety of choristers * Chaperoning tours/special events as requested by the Artistic Director * Staff development * Support of the volunteer operations of the St. John’s Boys’ Choir. IN ADDITION The Associate Artistic Director II, with the rest of the staff, must be able to commit to the following: * Modeling good behavior * Communication amongst staff and with families * Represent the organization well to the public * Investigate professional development opportunities * Support/contribute to the volunteer operations of the choir * Agrees to and supports the mission statement of the choir * Supervise student workers as needed REPORTING AND ACCOUNTABILITY Day-to-day, the Associate Artistic Director II reports to the Artistic Director. The Associate Artistic Director II also takes part in an annual review process (self-review and supervisor evaluation) through which accountability considerations can be filtered to the Board of Directors.
