POSITION DETAILS
Position Title: Elementary Physical Education Teacher
Salary Range: $45,000.00 – $65,000.00
Reports To: Chief Academic Officer (CAO)
Status: Exempt, Full-Time | 40+ hours a week
Contract Type: 10 Month contractUT THIS ROLE
At HOPE, we believe that a scholar''s development is not limited to what happens in the academic classroom. Physical education is not a break from learning — it is learning. Movement, physical literacy, teamwork, self-discipline, and healthy habits are foundational to a scholar''s ability to show up fully — mentally, emotionally, and physically — for every other part of their school day. For HOPE to develop the whole scholar our mission calls for, we must invest in educators who understand that the gymnasium is one of the most important learning spaces in the building.
The Elementary Physical Education Teacher at HOPE is a dynamic, scholar-centered educator who brings energy, structure, and genuine enthusiasm for movement and wellness to PreK–5 scholars every day. This teacher designs and delivers engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education experiences that build fundamental motor skills, promote healthy lifestyle habits, and nurture the social-emotional growth that comes from learning to cooperate, compete with integrity, and persevere through challenge. This is not a role for someone who simply runs drills and keeps score — it is a role for someone who sees every game, activity, and movement experience as an opportunity to build character, confidence, and community.
This role directly supports HOPE''s Radical Growth and Scholar Impact strategic priorities — because scholars who are physically active, healthy, and emotionally grounded are better positioned to achieve the academic excellence we are committed to by 2028. The ideal Elementary PE Teacher leads with joy, holds high expectations for scholar behavior and effort, and builds a gymnasium culture where every scholar — regardless of athletic ability or background — feels capable, included, and proud to participate.MARY DUTIES
Curriculum Planning & Instruction.
Design, plan, and deliver engaging, standards-aligned physical education lessons for scholars in grades PreK–5. Physical Literacy & Motor Skill Development.
Teach and reinforce fundamental locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative motor skills across all elementary grade levels. Design learning experiences that progressively build physical competence and confidence in scholars so they develop a genuine love of movement and physical activity that extends beyond the school day.
Social-Emotional Learning Through Physical Education.

Integrate health and wellness concepts into instruction, including nutrition, personal fitness, mental health, and the lifelong benefits of physical activity.
