North Metro Flex Academy is a K-8 th grade public charter school, located in North St. Paul, Minnesota. North Metro Flex Academy?s mission is to prepare a diverse community of elementary and middle school students to be successful in high school, college and in their chosen vocation through a flexible, individualized learning experience that develops analytical, compassionate, disciplined and self-directed learners. North Metro Flex Academy is looking to hire a Middle School Science Teacher , 1.0 FTE, for the 2026-2027 School Year. We are looking for an experienced Science teacher that is familiar with MN State Science standards, as well as grade 6-8 Science content. Position Specifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities · General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use e-mail, internet and word processing software, spreadsheets, smart board technology, Google applications. · Work well with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds. · Be knowledgeable of and adhere to school values, code of conduct, policies, and procedures. · Provide direction and supervision for all school activities to which assigned (coach, supervisor, chaperone, etc.). · Participate in the development and implementation of district goals and plans. · Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor Qualifications · Bachelor''s Degree from an accredited college or university. · A valid Minnesota Teacher''s License (applicable level-area endorsements preferred). · Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience. Teaching experience in diverse cultural settings is valued. Job Summary The Science teacher will provide instruction, intervention, and supervision to students. The Science teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Science Curriculum according to the school?s program objectives to students; conducting instruction that is coherent, purposeful, and engaging; continually assessing student development and performance; preparing and providing feedback on student progress to students and families. Contribute to the life of the school outside the classroom by participating in school events, school committees, and personal development training. Responsibilities Planning and Preparation · Develop lesson plans that meet the requirements of the school?s academic plan · Design lesson plans that reflect differentiation in student learning styles and abilities · Prepare instructional materials, books, equipment to adequately deliver lessons plans · Prepare lessons that engage, meet individual needs and interests of students · Provide adequate information, plans and materials for substitute teachers · Maintain accurate, complete and appropriate records and files Intervention · Implement scientifically-based reading and writing research strategies to enable students to develop the competencies and skills to be successful with scientific concepts, reasoning, and logic. · Provides individual and group intervention instruction designed to support individual needs · Evaluates academic growth of students and maintains appropriate records. · Communicates with parents through a variety of means to support students? academic growth. · Consistently assess student achievement through screening, and progress monitoring to ensure that students meet academic science growth. Instruction and Assessment · Prepare unit plans and conduct daily classroom instruction to the appropriate instructional level · Uses a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing pupils, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, lectures, and experiments. · Demonstrate effective use of science lab apparatus and equipment · Observe and evaluate students to determine student progress or to make suggestions for improvement. · Ability to use informal and formal assessments to monitor student performance. · Ensure instructional practice and curriculum foster critical inquiry, analysis, and evaluation · Integrate technology and media as appropriate to teach lessons that engage students.
