The candidate should have a general background in agriscience, environmental sciences, plant and animal production agriculture and a strong background in power technology and weld shop experience. Classes that will be taught for the 25-26 school year include: Woods, Water, and Wildlife, Introduction to Welding, Advanced Welding, Intro Ag/Food/Nat Res 8, Small Engines, Large Engines, and Animal Science. Future courses are only limited by the creativity of the person filling this position. Candidates must have experience in working with the FFA and be willing to continue the success of our student driven program while growing its current membership. Responsibilities will include: Developing lesson plans, conducting classroom and shop instruction, and evaluating and assessing both instructional materials and student performances. Other responsibilities include developing a strong FFA program and cooperatively working with our many community stakeholders to provide our students with "real life" learning opportunities. There is also an 10 day extended contract for summer work for the advisor to repair and maintain shop equipment as well as work with FFA students. The instructor will also be expected to work with the development of our district's Farm to School food program. Aitkin is home to the Riverwood Healthcare facility with over 60 physicians, specialists and surgeons. The city of Aitkin is also the home of the Aitkin County seat.
