Job Description: Under the direction of the Executive Director of Academics and Administrative Services, the K-4 Curriculum and EL Coordinator provides leadership for curriculum selection, professional development, and curriculum alignment for the K-4 system. This position provides leadership to the K-12 EL Department in curriculum, instruction, and service model. This position also serves as the district literacy lead. Teaching and Learning will be responsible for leading groups through the Program Review and Implementation. * Coordinate the planning, designing, and development of course content and assessments aligned to MN State Standards. * Collaborate with other Curriculum Specialists, Instructional Coaches, teachers, staff, and administration to seek out and design innovative instructional materials to support instruction. * Review course and content data making recommendations regarding revisions. * Research new and innovative curriculum practices; stay current with curricular trends and standards changes. * Work directly with grade level and department chairs in the design and vetting of course content, including curriculum guides, pacing guides, and instructional materials. * Facilitate meetings and professional learning opportunities for teachers, administrators, staff, and parents in the use of curriculum resources Statement of duty/responsibility: EL Program Coordination Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility: * LEIP development and implementation guidance aligned with APS instructional model * Instructional alignment for EL in the general education classroom * Leadership of EL Leadership team and EL staffing across the system * Management of EL systems (assessment, curriculum) Statement of duty/responsibility: K-12 Literacy Leadership Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility: * Collaborate with district/charter administration, Regional Literacy Lead, and the Minnesota Service Cooperatives (MSC). * Provide support to school-based coaches. * Support the implementation of Structured Literacy, interventions, curriculum delivery, and teacher training and professional development. * Assist with the development of personal learning plans for students unable to demonstrate grade-level proficiency. * Train teachers, paraprofessionals and other support staff to support classroom literacy instruction. * Support district efforts to administer required universal and dyslexia screening tools and data submission to MDE. * Ensure district staff are trained on and administer an approved universal screener. * Provide data literacy supports to ensure data analysis informs instruction and interventions. * Support inclusion of summary data in Local Literacy Plan submissions due annually on June 15. * Support the selection process and implementation of evidence-based curriculum and materials through horizontal and vertical alignment to the Minnesota English Language Arts standards. * Support the development, implementation, evaluation and submission of the annual Local Literacy Plan. * Support in providing parent/family notification for students not reading at or above grade level including the student&#8217;s reading proficiency level, reading-related services, and strategies for families to use at home to support the student. * Work collectively with peers in reflecting on personal learning and how that learning supports student achievement and growth of students.
