Job Summary:
Fridley Middle School Principal serves as the key liaison between the Superintendent and the building staff at Fridley Middle School. In this leadership role, the individual will lead all school programs, services, staff, and students, ensuring alignment with the district's vision and goals. The Middle School Principal is responsible for making informed, strategic decisions that foster a supportive, effective work environment for staff, address the needs of students, and ensure the delivery of a high-quality curriculum. This middle school principal is focused on improving student outcomes through the application of best teaching practices, facilitating collaboration among staff, and maintaining a school culture that prioritizes student success and holistic development.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental job duties:
* Leads, directs, coordinates, supervises, and is accountable for the daily operation of the middle school.
* Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates school goals and plans which coordinate with the framework of the district vision, goals, and plans, using formative, summative assessments, and other relevant data to monitor and report student achievement.
* Communicates with the superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community, and promotes district and site vision, goals, priorities, expectations, and plans.
* Responsible for recruitment, making hiring recommendations, supervising, and evaluating site personnel.
* Leads and manages the evaluation process for certified and non-certified staff, ensuring timely feedback, professional growth, and alignment with district standards and goals.
* Promotes an effective culture and learning environment through the International Baccalaureate framework and other best practices, such as; reflective analysis, a focus on data, use of the district's articulated curriculum, and high expectations.
* Prepares and manages the annual budget allocations upon approval of the superintendent and school board.
* Implements school board policies and interprets them to staff, students, and parents.
* Responsible for scheduling of students and staff for appropriate assignments of duties.
* Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring the effectiveness of programs for staff development and instructional improvement, addressing district, site and individual needs.
* Organizes and supervises the areas of site maintenance, improvements, and safety/security.
* Provides leadership in the development, analysis, evaluation, and improvement of the educational and operational functions of the site.
* Participates actively on the district administrative team, serves on other district and community groups as needed or appropriate.
* Provides overall supervision of activities program.
* Leads and sustains effective collaboration with Student Services, Academics and Innovation, Equity, and other district departments to ensure clear communication, strategic alignment, and consistent implementation of systems and initiatives that support student achievement and well-being.
* Coaches, evaluates, and supports Assistant Principals and Deans to strengthen their leadership capacity, align efforts with school priorities, and ensure consistent, equitable practices across the school.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field (required)
* Valid Minnesota administrative license (K–12 Principal or equivalent)
* Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
* Minimum of three years in a school or district-level leadership role
* Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and fostering inclusive school environments
* Proven experience in staff supervision, instructional leadership, and organizational management

* Conducts regular classroom walkthroughs and instructional observations, providing timely, actionable feedback to teachers to improve practice and student engagement.
