TITLE:
Elementary Assistant Principal
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: HCA’s Elementary Assistant Principal supports and pursues the vision and mission of Heritage Christian Academy by building the student and faculty community with excellence so that God is glorified through leadership, discipleship, academics, and activities. The Assistant Principal serves as a catalyst to create a culture conducive of scholarly pursuit and spiritual growth in relation to the mission of the school. The Assistant Principal works in cooperation with the Principal and administrative team. This would include providing leadership to faculty and staff regarding student behavior; keeping current of trends and changes in education; providing a connection between faculty, administrators, parents, and students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A salvation testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and desire to be in the ministry of Christian education at Heritage Christian Academy.
HCA’s Assistant Principal must possess a solid knowledge of the Bible, a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and a demonstrated character of integrity.
Positive role model of Christian character and agreement with HCA’s Statement of Faith and work agreement.
Interest and ability to be a leader and manage the activities of the educational process of Heritage Christian Academy.
Enthusiastic interest in mentoring and guiding students in their spiritual, academic, and social growth.
Commitment to continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
Strong team building skills and the ability to work effectively together with others.
Highly developed skills in written and oral communication, human relations, and problem solving.
Commitment to Christian education.
COORDINATOR FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
DISCIPLINE AND DECORUM – supports HCA’s Elementary School Principal with student behavior and performance.
Standards of Discipline: review standards of discipline and offer recommendations (handbook/policy statements), enforce adopted standards for student behavior, and defer to principal and/or president as needed. Establish and supervise detentions, recovery process, parent protocols.
Attendance and Discipline Records Monitoring: monitors discipline records, attendance records, etc. Prepare reports as needed for administration.
Site Supervision: help establish faculty schedules and provide leadership (training faculty on lunch procedures) for lunch supervision, ENCOUNTER supervision, and before/after school supervision (both “walkabouts” and scheduling other staff for assignments) in hallways and common spaces. Provide support for arrival and dismissal and parking lot monitoring. Help develop positive relationships, opportunities, and environment for students outside the classroom setting.
SCHOOL PROTOCOLS – Coordinate the following areas with faculty, staff, and students:
Love and Logic: further develop and utilize the principles of love and logic as it applies at Heritage Christian Academy
Discipling/Discipline: help with discipline needs and discipling opportunities
SCHOOL EVENTS - Promote and support HCA sponsored events such as, but not limited to:
Students clubs, elementary sports, concerts, programs, etc.
PARTNER WITH OTHER ADMINISTRATORS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
SERVE AS ACTING PRINCIPAL IN ABSENCE OF THE PRINCIPAL
Serve as the Administrator for emergencies in absence of Principal
Support for emergency planning as delegated
Support and share the responsibility for disciplinary and behavioral needs with principal as dictated by the severity of the incident
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Support new teacher training
Mentor new teachers
Observation and evaluation of teachers
Assessment of curriculum trak and lesson planner
NOTE This position would NOT be seen as:
Elementary Hiring/Staffing Officer (principal/president)
Staff Supervisor/Chief Evaluator/Professional Development (principal)
Chief Parent Liaison (principal/community relations)
Lead for Visioning, but would be involved with implementation of vision
Budget Manager (principal/finance director)
Buildings or Facilities Management (currently assigned elsewhere)
Chief of Emergency Planning (president/principals)
Textbook Coordinator (support team)
The Lead for all Student Programming (Coordinator of Discipleship)

Elementary School Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Days of Employment: Follow the faculty and staff calendar
Starting Salary: Based on degrees earned and years of experience
