Middle School Media Center Assistant JOB GOAL: Provide staff and students support with media center needs and initial technology support, in a welcoming space. POSITION DETAILS: * Approximately 174 day work year agreement * Wages will be range between $18.00 - $20.00 an hour based on experience QUALIFICATIONS: * High School Diploma required * Post-secondary education and/or degree; certification by the state as highly qualified preferred DESIRABLE SKILLS: * Computer and data entry experience * Technologically literate:able to use computers, other devices and assist others in using them * Human relations skills to effectively work with students, teachers and parents * Good reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills * Demonstrated aptitude in areas of assigned duties * Experience with Follett Destiny, Google Suite, iPads, Macbooks, Chromebooks, etc. * Demonstrate independent initiative REPORTS TO: Director of Technology and Building Principal PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Process and physically maintain library materials to include books and equipment by using library software, purchasing inventory, bar-coding, labeling, covering, organizing shelves, weeding, etc. Work with staff and students to procure library materials needed to support instructional goals. * Engage in appropriate use of software/databases used by the District (e.g. Google [Sheets, Docs, Calendar, Slides], Infinite Campus, Testing software, Destiny, etc.). * Exhibit a capability and willingness to adapt to new technologies and the opportunities they present. * Creatively facilitates use of the media center resources (space and equipment) to support curriculum and technology. * Collaborates with staff and technology department to help implement, sustain and support technological delivery of curriculum, e.g. assisting with iPad & Macbook/Chromebook issues, software installation, record keeping. * Assist with School Assessment for state-mandated testing. Collaborates with the District Assessment coordinator, teachers and staff to offer assistance as directed. * Help Desk Level 1 support of the Technology Department - respond to student & staff requests for troubleshooting, evaluating, prioritizing, and solving problems with devices and equipment. * This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and employees will also perform other reasonable related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management. BENEFIT PACKAGE: Health and Hospitalization Insurance: The District shall contribute up to, but not to exceed, the sum of Six hundred forty dollars per month ($640.00) for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. Any additional cost of the premium shall be borne by the employee and paid by payroll deduction. Dental Insurance: If available from the insurance carrier, employees covered by thisAgreement may participate in the school's group dental insurance program at the employee’s expense. Life Insurance: The District shall provide each Help Desk Informational Support Assistant with a $5,000 term life insurance policy. The premium for this insurance shall be paid by Independent School District #465. In addition, if available from the insurance carrier, additional term life insurance will be made available to each employee at the employee's option. The premium for the additional coverage shall be paid by the employee through payroll deduction. Long Term Disability Insurance: The District shall make available to each Help Desk Informational Support Assistant employee a Long Term Disability Insurance Policy, the premium for which shall be paid by Independent School District #465. Sick Leave: All Help Desk Informational Support Assistants will earn one (1) hour of sick leave pay per 11.5 hours worked, not to exceed fifteen (15) equivalent days, based upon the employee's school year contract position. Emergency Family Leave: A total of five emergency family leave days are granted each Help Desk Informational Support Assistant for serious illness or death in the immediate family. Immediate family shall mean employee’s spouse, children, stepchildren, daughters/sons-in-law, grandchildren, parents, stepparents, parents-in-law, grandparents and spouse’s grandparents, brothers or sisters, brothers/sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles and spouse’s aunts and uncles. In the event of a serious illness or death of the employee's or spouse's grandparents, brothers, sisters, and brothers/sisters-in-law, a cumulative total of three (3) leave days will be granted. Said three (3) days to be subtracted from the employee's sick leave time. Other cases may be submitted for approval at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools. Personal Leave: All Help Desk Informational Support Assistants may be granted personal leave of no more than (3) days per year. One (1) day may be carried over to the next year with a maximum of four (4) days cumulative. No personal leave will be deducted from sick time.
