Reports to: Superintendent
Purpose: Assist students in need during moments of duress for their own safety and the safety of others, participate in student recruitment and maintain student family responsibilities.
Student Behavior:
* Develop and coordinate behavioral interventions with students that include visually monitoring students and containing physical aggressions (i.e. zero tolerance policy)
* Maintain behavioral referrals and records for each child
* Track and maintain busing behavioral referrals from busing company
* Coordinate and develop with parents a behavioral intervention program to assist with child behavior (i.e. on-site or busing)
* Perform other related duties as assigned
Student Recruitment:
* Perform a variety of specialized professional-level public relations activities to the development, implementation and promotion of programs and services for student recruitment purposes
* Coordinate and participate in the development of recruitment literature; assist in the development of uniform recruitment packages
* Establish schedules of recruitment activities; follow up on contacts made by staff; establish, update and maintain recruitment database information; develop and implement a system for timely communications
* Coordinate and conduct visits to public schools, public agencies and private businesses; visit feeder schools
* Interview parents, provide and receive information and assist parents with the enrollment process
Family Responsibility:
* Identify non-traditional community groups in need; conduct survey of needs assessment and prepare related reports; coordinate the development of plans to needs of the community
* Provide families with family support service agencies
* Coordinate family activities at the school for parent interaction with staff and students (ie. family night, activity night, etc.)
* Collaborate with social services, non-profits, and local county agencies on doing outreach for family support
* Communicate and meet with parents on a regular basis to establish relationship and ownership of the schools mission and vision (i.e. PTA meetings)
Minimum Qualifications:
* Meet the Highly Qualified certification requirements (ie. passing score on the ParaPro Exam or 2 year degree/2 year of post secondary education)
* Basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics
* Basic skills in typing and duplicating may be required for some positions
* Ability to develop good relationships with students, parents and staff
* Be respectful of everyone
* Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others
* Ability to relate to students with warmth, friendliness, and understanding
* Ability to work with special educational students
* Must be on time to your job everyday
