Dean of Students/Student Support Services (Full-Time) Kato Public Charter School 2024-2025 Summary of duties: In collaboration with the administration and staff the Dean of Students position will provide student supervision and interventions to students experiencing problems in discipline, attendance, and testing. Support school and district initiatives that create a safe and engaging learning environment. This position will also act as a resource to teachers in their instructional practice, especially as it relates to issues of discipline, relationships with students, classroom management, and school culture. Student Discipline &#9679; Assist with student behavior management and discipline student behavior concern; * Communicate with and engage parents to resolve student behavior issues; * Talk with students to build relationships based on trust and respect; Supervise detentions, in school and out of school; * Co Leader of school-wide behavior management system; * Relates to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective disciplinary program; * Serves as liaison to parents including reinforcing parental support of school&#8217;s policies for student discipline, dress code, and homework. Student Relations &#9679; Work with staff to monitor student attendance & address individual truancy issues; * Support building interventions such as Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS); * Serve as 504 Coordinator and attend IEP meetings as needed; * Assist with test monitoring and student assessments; * Support transitioning of new and returning students; * Supervise the consistent and fair administration of school policies regarding student discipline; * Demonstrate and model a school-wide culture of respect and support of students; * Establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with staff, students, and community; * Model professional standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism; * Meet scheduled deadlines for assigned projects and tasks. Student Support Services * Assist in monitoring school safety drills (Fire, Tornado, Lockdowns); * Facilitate parent education, training, and engagement events; * Attend KPCS Board meeting once a month; * Communicate with parents on a regular basis by phone, email and inperson; * Other tasks as assigned. Student Services * Participate in audit of student service areas as needed; * Participate in staff trainings, meetings, workshops and professional development; * Participate on committees or in a school leadership group as needed * Assist Special Education with monitoring and observing student behaviors * Other tasks as assigned.
