The paraeducator position involves working with students in a self-contained special education program or a special education classroom for students with significant behaviors and needs that are related to disabilities, such as emotional/behavioral disorder and autism spectrum disorder. Title: Special Education Paraeducator Job Location: Saint Peter, MN General Summary: * Special education paraeducators assist students with special needs under the direction of a licensed teacher. The special education paraeducator assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, helps special needs students, and cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships. Responsibilities may include assisting teachers to provide support to students in the areas of academic assistance, physical assistance, behavior monitoring, and data collection. Qualifications: * High school diploma * Experience working with children and an interest in working with special needs students. * Post-secondary education, previous experience working with students with emotional/behavioral concerns or autism, and/or previous experience in a school setting preferred. Duties and Responsibilities: * Assisting students in achieving academic success * Working with students who may be aggressive or disruptive in class * Behavior support includes physical management and monitoring (training provided upon hire) * Social integration * Consultation and collaboration with special education teachers and related service staff.
