Summary Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) is a private school serving Grades Pre-kindergarten through 12 in Brooklyn Park, MN. MCA has an opening for a highly motivated individual to lead as the Upper School Principal. This role is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the secondary school's educational, administrative, and counseling activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Essential Duties * Assist the Head of School in establishing goals and objectives for the upper school and its instructional program. * Develops and coordinates educational programs through meetings with staff, reviews of teachers' activities, and issuance of directives. * Assist the Head of School in maintaining a systematic curriculum review cycle. * Facilitate the evaluation and adoption of new curriculum materials. * Oversee purchasing all curriculum, supplementary materials, teaching aids, lab supplies, etc. * Maintain a curriculum inventory system. * Develop an annual budget for the operation of curriculum and instruction in Grades 6-12. * Oversee coordination of academic special events. * Maintain a record of lesson plans on a weekly basis. * Develop a master "matrix" of teaching schedules. * Oversee preparation and management of fall and spring conferences. * Determine and maintain a space use plan for classrooms, offices, and events. * Conduct and oversee performance reviews for teaching and support staff. * Determine teaching assignments. * Oversee staff supervision duties. * Facilitate regular staff meetings. * Approve staff use of PTO hours. * Interview new upper school teaching applicants with the HR department. * Oversee Dean of Students * Oversee Academic Counselor * Oversee School Counselor and collaborate regarding students on caseload. * Assist staff in improving classroom instructional and management skills. * Oversee all administrative management of students. * Assign probationary status or behavioral suspensions to students. * Assist parents and students with academic, behavioral, and social challenges. * Provide administrative letters of recommendation for students for colleges and employment. * Maintain communication system for documentation of student issues. * Facilitate specific student concerns meetings between teachers, parents, and students. * Conduct student interviews for enrollment. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises 25-30 upper school instructional and support staff employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
