The Activities Director is responsible for organizing and overseeing the athletic programs, clubs, fine arts, and co-curricular programs. Essential Duties: * Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures, and maintains a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. * Oversees the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures for the department, or as directed by the Superintendent or the Board. * Coordinates the scheduling and transportation of athletic, fine arts and club events. Communicates with students, staff, parents, and the community on issues concerning eligibility, event schedules, complaints, and related correspondence * Administers and monitors related budgets to ensure fair and consistent spending practices. * Develops, coordinates, attends and supervises, or ensures adequate supervision of athletic events, co-curricular activities, and related affairs. * Maintains and monitors student eligibility and processes related reports. * Serves as the school district representative and liaison to MSHSL, Booster Clubs and other sports-related groups as needed. * Is a member of the District Administrative Leadership team and assists with the development/implementation of the District Strategic Plan. * Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the High School Principal or Superintendent. Travel Requirements Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Knowledge of athletics, athletic programs, and physical fitness. * Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding school district athletic programs, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility. * Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * Ability to evaluate, develop and implement athletic programs, activities and events, and make effective recommendations related to those areas. * Effective verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints. * Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth. * Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Qualifications Profile * Certification/License: * MN Teaching License * MN K-12 Principals license prefered * Five years of experience as a Head coach or athletic director preferred * Successful experience managing or directing the athletic programs or a school district preferred. * Successful Supervisory experience preferred. * Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation. Activities Director
