Hennepin Schools is a public K-8 charter school founded in 2012. Our mission is to ensure all students achieve academic success by developing community builders, confident learners, and cross-cultural navigators on a 12 acre preserve in south Minneapolis. We are seeking a hard working professional K-12 Licensed Physical Education Teacher to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. Please send your resume and cover letter to resumes@hennepinschools.org<mailto:resumes@hennepinschools.org> Your Job: As K-6 teacher at Hennepin Schools, it is your responsibility to create and maintain a classroom that supports our mission to: &#8226; Provide a safe, nurturing and cooperative learning environment where children discover their personal and academic strengths &#8226; Cultivate a sense of respect and responsibility &#8226; Create a sense of social awareness and a social bridge to the broader community &#8226; Provide a curriculum that leads each child to educational success and closes the achievement gap &#8226; Instill self-esteem, confidence and a positive attitude in every child Duties and Responsibilities: &#8226; Use MN State Standards to write appropriate lesson plans and adaptations &#8226; Integrate school-adopted curriculum into coherent lessons designed to maximize every student&#8217;s potential &#8226; Teach four sections of physical education to students in grades 5-8 daily. &#8226; Participates in all team-wide planning meetings and PLCs &#8226; Consistently implement school-wide PBIS Discipline Policy &#8226; Other duties as assigned Skills & Qualifications and Requirements: &#8226; Bachelor&#8217;s Degree &#8226; MN Teacher's License &#8226; Ability to interact well with staff, students, families, and stakeholders &#8226; Strong behavior management skills &#8226; Strong literacy content knowledge in a balanced literacy framework &#8226; Experience working with students of color &#8226; Detail oriented, flexible and able to multitask &#8226; Professional demeanor and appearance with a positive attitude and a sense of humor &#8226; Excellent planning and organizational skills &#8226; Self-motivated, proactive and resourceful in the completion of work assignments &#8226; Sense of accountability and ownership for work results &#8226; Knowledge of the following computer applications: Smartboard Notebook, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), and Google Classroom &#8226; Ability to maintain status of &#8220;not disqualified&#8221; upon completion of criminal background and MN disciplinary incidence research &#8226; Highly preferred bilingual or multilingual, Spanish or Somali preferred &#8226; Highly preferred minimum of two years teaching Compensation Hennepin Schools salary for this position is competitive and based on prior experience.
