Description: 1.0 FTE Health Aide, 183 Days, 7 hours/day This position effectively and efficiently perform support work assisting student&#8217;s in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical and behavioral goals of special needs students. Works individually or in small groups. Work is performed under the supervision of a School Nurse, Teacher, LPN or the Director. Provide health services under the direction/delegation and supervision of a Licensed School Nurse/RN/LPN. Pay & Benefits: A competitive and comprehensive pay/benefits package is available Job Summary: * Administer first aid and episodic care in accordance with school district policy, ARC guidelines, and as delegated by school nurse to student and staff. * Arrange for transportation of students and staff who become ill or are injured at school. * Make appropriate referrals to nurse, social worker, chemical awareness counselor and other staff members as needed (i.e. pregnancy, drug use, acute chronic illness, attendance issues).Administer medication only to students having appropriate forms completed. Keep accurate record of medication administered. * As a member of the health team, is responsible for dissemination of information only to appropriate staff and support personnel (food services, transportation). * Maintain a current file of community and county health resources. * Be responsible for health services operational tasks which include: * Maintenance of accurate student health charts (i.e. initiate new/transfer student's health cards and collect, review, record and file health information). * Recording of screenings and physical examinations. * Prepare accident reports, confidential health lists, health history updates, parent notification forms, immunization reports, etc. * Complete inventory for health office supplies and stock office. * Issue first aid supplies to staff for classrooms and field trips. * Data entry of all emergency information, annual health information, and confidential health information for district student data management system. * Filing, answering phone calls and other related functions for maintenance of an organized and effective health office, including maintaining a &#8220;Sub Notebook&#8221; to cover absences. * Assist with enforcement of immunization regulations (i.e., no shots, no school). * Provide student, parent and staff education as delegated by the LSN (e.g., Glo-germ, communicable disease information). * Medical Emergency Response support team, participate in Crisis/Lockdown teams, and other building emergency procedures. * Assist with student health screenings under the direction of the school nurse. * Clean health office and equipment using appropriate products for Blood-Borne Pathogen control. * Other duties as assigned by building administration and LSN. Qualifications: * Minimum Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Passing score on Restrictive Procedures exam and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and any other district specific exam/test. General understanding of public school education, and special education. Meets certification requirements of state: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), CPR and First Aid Certification. * General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in the teaching of students receiving special education services; * General skill operating standard office equipment and related hardware and software; * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community; * Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication with ability to communicate in unique ways with student populations; * Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies; * Ability to deal effectively with special students and teachers; some skill in the use of classroom and instructional equipment; * Ability to maintain confidentiality with student matters; and to handle difficult situations with ease and flexibility; * Ability to receive communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
