The Ascent program serves middle school students at our River Valley Education Center in Jordan. Ascent is an Emotional/Behavioral Program (EBD) for students in grades 5-8. Description: Special Education Paraprofessional, 7 hours a day for 183 Contract Days. Efficiently and effectively assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning program in a special education setting while working under the supervision of a supervising teacher. Performs support work assisting students in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical and behavioral goals of special needs students. Works Individually or in small groups. Pay & Benefits: Starting pay at $18.85/hour. Competitive and comprehensive benefit package available Job Summary: Provide support by working directly with students to increase their academic, social/behavioral, communication, and study skills under the direction of the teacher(s). Qualifications: &#8226; Two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 college credits) OR an Associate degree (or higher) OR the successful completion of the Paraeducator training and assessments (District funded). &#8226; Experience working with students with significant disabilities is preferred, but not required. &#8226; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) required. Training is offered by the school district. &#8226; Must pass a background check. &#8226; Capable of discretion/confidentiality.
