Job Summary: To provide strategies for teaching and supporting students in the literacy skills needed to learn to read, read to learn, and comprehend; to provide strategies in math for teaching and supporting students in the development of number sense. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Provide Direct Instruction to Students * Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the literacy needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in literacy. * Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading intervention and support services. * Teach targeted literacy interventions to small groups of students daily using evidence-based strategies and resources. * Assist students using software and materials related to literacy programs. * Meet regularly with the classroom teacher to plan literacy instruction that correlates with the individual student&#8217;s needs or as requested by the classroom teacher. * Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date management records of all students&#8217; progress. Provide Resources & Consultation to Classroom Teachers * Coordinate and facilitate the school&#8217;s literacy intervention program. * Assist teachers with the collection of data, analysis of data results and support the sharing of findings with all staff. Perform other duties and responsibilities related to literacy intervention services as assigned by supervisor * Attend professional development and participate in ongoing coaching to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content. JOB OUTCOMES: * Provide high quality instruction to meet students&#8217; unique identified needs. * Provide resources and consult with general education teachers to meet students&#8217; needs. * Meet compliance requirements for Federal Title I programming. * Ongoing communication of student progress to all stakeholders involved. Qualifications: Education: * Must possess a current Teacher license. * K-12 Reading Certification preferred. Experience: * Prior experience in delivering reading intervention. * Five years successful classroom teaching experience preferred. * Successful completion of LETRS training Volume 1 & Volume 2 preferred. Special Knowledge or Skills: * Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement evidence-based literacy interventions. * Ability to problem solve and manage the complexity of individual needs regarding literacy development. * Possess high quality instructional practices in the area of literacy. * Demonstrates an understanding of &#8220;best practices&#8221; and up to date on the latest literature in the field. * Position requires a strong work ethic, organizational skills and time management. * Strong leadership and collaboration skills. * Ability to lead and plan professional development for colleagues. * Flexibility and a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks, sometimes at the direction of more than one person. Working Conditions: Physical Involvement: * Vitality to accomplish numerous tasks and processes. * Extended periods of standing when teaching or leading an activity. * Extended periods of sitting during meetings and deskwork. * Bending, stooping or sitting on the floor to perform classroom activities or to provide one to one assistance. * Repetitive motion keyboarding activities. * Ability to travel between buildings, within the buildings and work area. * May lift equipment or supplies typically not to exceed 25 pounds. Mental Involvement: * Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments. * Interpersonal and conflict resolution skills needed in dealing with a variety of stakeholders. * Taking initiative to explore new activities and ideas to enhance student learning. * Respond to multiple and sometimes simultaneous requests. * Provide accurate and detailed student progress reports on a regular basis. Shakopee Public Schools is seeking a 1.0 FTE Title I Reading Intervention Teacher at Jackson Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year.

Job Summary:
To provide strategies for teaching and supporting students in the literacy skills needed to learn to read, read to learn, and comprehend; to provide strategies in math for teaching and supporting students in the development of number sense.
