Sign Language Interpreter
Location:
Foley Elementary School, 743 Penn Street, Foley, MN
Days/Time:
12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on preK student contact days only. Start date - ASAP. End date - May 24, 2024
*Additional hours are possible including Extended School Year programming for the summer. This position could also be extended to include the 2024-2025 school year.
Rate:
$24.67 - $30.89/hr based on certifications and experience
Position Summary:
The primary function is to act as a facilitator of communication between the Deaf/Hard of Hearing student, their peers, and staff so that the student may actively participate in the educational program. The interpreter will assist staff in working toward achieving the early learning objectives identified in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and provide interpretation of the instructional tasks assigned and facilitation of the communication that takes place at school.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of an Interpreter/Transliterator Training Program affiliated with an accredited educational institution
Experience working with children, preferably preschool aged, who are deaf or hard of hearing
Ability to help support the student with any additional needs in the education setting
Ability to serve in a role to support both the sign language and spoken language development of learners with a hearing loss
Skilled in communicating with members of the student’s IEP team
