Position: Director of Teaching and Learning Posting Date: March 7, 2024 Start Date: Flexible, July 1st 2024 Department: Administration FLSA: Exempt Full-time/Part-time: 40+ hours/week with benefits Supervisor: Principal Receives Work Direction from: Principal, President Gives Work Direction to: Academic Dean, Learning Support Staff, Faculty Primary Function (Purpose of Position): The Director of Teaching & Learning provides the instructional and administrative leadership necessary to ensure the growth of the academic program of DeLaSalle High School. This position works to strengthen the educational program and promotes the educational development of all students through the implementation of systems, analysis of data, and the use of best practice educational strategies in the classroom and the professional development of all staff members. The Director of Teaching & Learning works collaboratively with the Principal to communicate and carry out the vision for the overall academic program within the school and ensure congruence between the school&#8217;s established mission and all academic activities. Ethical Standards: Employees of DeLaSalle High School must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of DeLaSalle High School. Their personal behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church, nor can it embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. Representative Responsibilities: Curriculum Development * Oversees and evaluates the schoolwide curriculum and review process to ensure alignment in meeting the needs of all students and compliance with established school standards. * Collaborates with the Director of Instructional Technology to coordinate the review and selection of textbooks and related instructional aides for the purpose of providing effective instructional materials. * Oversees the training and/or facilitates training of faculty in the use of curriculum materials for the purposes of improving efficiency and effectiveness by enhancing the ability of all teachers to apply instructional and planning techniques necessary to achieve academic success. * Works with the school President, Principal and other personnel to create short-term and long-term academic program goals and objectives that are congruent with the established strategic plan and mission of the school. * Annually evaluates course offerings, new course proposals, changes to existing courses, etc. and determines what is implemented. * Oversees the annual student registration process for current students and collaborates with the Admissions Director to coordinate registration for new and transfer students. Professional Development * Oversees, monitors, evaluates and implements schoolwide staff development and school improvement efforts, programs and activities. * Oversees and provides leadership for the school Staff Development Committee. Develops a multi-year approach to providing professional development opportunities to all employees. * Co-chairs the school accreditation process through Cognia. * Oversees and directs the activities of the department chairs and leads the Instructional Leadership Team. * Establishes and participates in programs for the orientation of new teachers, in-service training of all teachers, and on-going support and mentorship of faculty and staff. * Fosters a collaborative and professional learning community among the faculty that encourages the exchange of innovative teaching methods, strategies and use of technology. * Creates and distributes CEU&#8217;s from internal professional development opportunities to faculty and staff. Teacher Supervision & Evaluation * Observes, supervises, and helps to evaluate the faculty in the development and implementation of curriculum; supervises the teaching process, and reviews and evaluates the academic programs. * Trains department chairs in strategies that provide feedback to members of their respective departments through the peer observation model. * Makes recommendations to the President and Principal regarding the hiring, retention, and assignment of faculty. Student & Family Support * Communicates effectively with parents, students and the community about curriculum initiatives, instructional program goals and student achievement. * Works collaboratively with the Academic Dean to collect and push out data to students and families related to established academic checkpoints. Along with the Academic Dean, analyzes data from checkpoints to make necessary adjustments to practice and policy. * Oversees and collaborates with the Learning Center to ensure the school curriculum meets the needs of diverse learners and advocates for and implements strategies to differentiate instruction to address varied learning styles and abilities of children with diagnosed learning differences. * Meets with families and students along with Learning Specialists as needed in the implementation of school learning plans. Programmatic Oversight * Administers PACC credits through St. Mary&#8217;s University of Minnesota. * Ensures compliance with College in the School&#8217;s curriculum and expectations. * Oversees preparation of necessary documentation, pre-approval, registration, reimbursement, and all mandated forms and reports related to Title funded activities (Title I, II, III, IV). * Serves as a school liaison to the Minneapolis Public School District at annual meetings and communicates with the district as needed. * Ensure support of foundations providing assistance to current students and/or academic programs (i.e. Flaherty Foundation, Banyan Community, GHR, Ciresi Walburn Foundation, etc) Instructional Technology * Collaborates with the Director of Instructional Technology to align curriculum goals with technology integration strategies, create data-driven processes to analyze, implement and/or improve learning management systems, instructional and learning platforms, and lesson plans. * Stay informed about advancements in education, curriculum development, and instructional technology through continuous professional learning and networking opportunities. Qualifications: &#183; Master&#8217;s degree in Education Administration, Curriculum Development or related field &#183; Several years of teaching experience, with a proven track record of instructional leadership. &#183; Knowledge of current educational trends, best practices, and assessment strategies. &#183; Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. &#183; Experience with curriculum development and alignment with state standards. &#183; Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into instruction. &#183; Knowledge of high school accreditation processes. Qualifications:

·         Master’s degree in Education Administration, Curriculum Development or related field

·         Several years of teaching experience, with a proven track record of instructional leadership.

·         Knowledge of current educational trends, best practices, and assessment strategies.

·         Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

·         Experience with curriculum development and alignment with state standards.

·         Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into instruction.

·         Knowledge of high school accreditation processes.
